Was at the game. Nice UConn group there. I estimate between 1500 and 2000 UConn fans.
Observations;
1). The changing of qbs seemed to create more confusion on the UConn side than on the Vandy defense. DeLeone was late making several play calls which resulted in 1 big delay penalty and many rushed sequences.
2). Vandy's second td was the direct result of UConn lack poor substitution on defense when Vandy was in the no huddle. Jennings went nuts on the staff after that play as the was utter confusion just before the long run.
3). Some of the first words from P was that the offense will stretch the defense and UConn will have a vertical passing game. UConn took only 1 shot down the field and although Nebrich overthrew the receiver, there was at least a 3 yard separation by the WR. After that there were no more shots downfield and the Vandy DB were jumping the plays.
4). The huge positive we kept hearing about McEntee was his accuracy. That was not on display yesterday and if he is not accurate there is nothing else he has to offer.
5). The WR just make soft cuts. Not sure if that is the right word, but for example, the first int. was a pass to Moore where he was doing a very gradual fade to the sideline rather than breaking off the pattern and giving McEntee a square target. Just don't like the way the WRs run patterns.
6) lots of positives on defense but those have been pointed out elsewhere.
