Someone from Illinois was mentioning this and we both have bye weeks that week.
If Illinois could make this a conference game...I'm not very knowledgable on how this would all play out, but doesn't this not solve the major issue of playing a conference game? Sure this has bowl implications, but UConn would play one less conference game than everyone else.
I don't think UConn is winning the conference or the east or what have you but something just seems off replacing a conference opponent with an OOC game. That being said, I would gladly play Illinois at home even though we play them in 2 years and adds a game back in September when the weather is great.
And a P5 opponent at that.I think this is a great idea. Especially since it gives us a home game with a more winnable opponent than USF would've been.
Just do it!
Aresco wants his best horse chalking up a nice P5 win. He's about the conference, and will throw UConn under the bus in a NY minute to prop up his showcase team. The last thing he wants is a make-up game in CT late in the season.
