Missouri is a consensus high 20s it looks like in the polls. With a 3-0 record, and a win on the road against a ranked sec team, don't we have a convincing argument?

If we were to beat Missouri it will unfortunately be looked upon as Missouri's weakness not our strength. No, we won't be ranked. It would take beating Navy and BYU for us to be ranked.

Unless they blow out Mizzou, I doubt it. They're not automatically gonna get credit in the polls for beating one ranked opponent. They're probably gonna have to beat Mizzou and BYU before they even get a wiff of the Top 25. So beating those two teams with maybe one loss at worst, and I'd think they'd be ranked.

No. I don't think we would get ranked until 5-0. That would mean winning all 3 of these difficult games.

These are problems we will not have to worry about. I'd love for someone to shove this post in my face in 22 days.

We are already ranked, this being @ 115 . Missouri is @ 22. Not sure a win would move a disrespected program in a disrespected conference 93 positions with one upset.

Love your enthusiasm but this might be a bit down the road. Others here have stated the obvious reasons.
Having said that I will still be holding out hope and rooting for our dogs to kick some tiger tail !

Based on out perception and assuming BYU is unranked come 10/2 (@UCLA, @Michigan) we'd realistically have to start 8/9-0 to crack the top 25. In the Big East days 5-0 would unquestionably get us ranked. #TheAmericanDifference

Frankly, I don't think that UConn would need to go 8-0. I think they just need to go 6-0 to crack the top 25.

The fact that we don't have any style points or hype + being in the American is a lot to overcome. I just think it is tough to make a splash from the G5 unless your from Boise, ID. If Temple and Memphis had the "P5 bias" they would be ranked already.

We beat Mizzou (even squeek it out) then beat Navy, and BYU on the road we get nationally ranked. I think we'd recieve votes if we beat Mizzou and Navy.

If we beat Mizzou, Diaco will get air time and from then on we'll be relevant. Diaco is just too interesting/crazy/odd to ignore. The media will be all over him once they get some of his best sound bites.

I'm thrilled to be 2-0, even given the competition. This sets this season as a potential path to rebuild.

That said, folks had better be realistic. We have major flaws on offense and while the defense is good it will struggle mightily against fast opponents. Six wins and a bowl that extends practice schedules would be absolutely huge progress.

Talk of rankings is craziness.

We are ranked low due to last years record/ team. A win at Missouri easily puts us in the top 50 this year and a win over navy puts us in the top 35 this year. Where we rank if that happens depends on what other teams do who could be a fringe top 25 team.

A win today pays off in the polls if Mizzou goes on a roll. But there are bigger benefits in total than just a ranking for us.
