This is an honest question.
Paige tore her ACL back in June, I think. How long does it take to get full recovery? Is she practicing yet? Could she come back in March?
Given her age, and the extra year of eligibility she has due to Covid (she's part of that cohort, isn't she?), I wonder if salvaging another full year of college play is important to her.
Thanks for your thoughts and knowledge.

1-2 years depending on amount of work done, how rehab is going. My doc said for normal folks, 12 months for physical recovery, a full two years for physical/proprioceptive healing. All systems need to relearn to "fire" in the right order again. If you rush all of this, the risks of re-injury there. Although Paige is not a pro-athlete, she's also not a normal folks, as she's getting top notch rehab access, and there's no rush for her to come back, unlike pro athletes. They are probably taking a cautious path with her, considering her injury in late 2021. Betting she's not close to being cleared for practice. She has a covid year, and a potential redshirt year, and IMHO, what happens over next year will go a long way in determining what she decides to do after 2023-24.

Short answer : NO

Long answer - Even if she were prepared from a medical standpoint it would take a while to get up to basketball speed after that long a layoff. Especially given that those 5 or 6 tourney weeks are the most physical games of the season. The other aspect is the insanity of burning an entire year of eligibility to play 5 or 6 weeks (COVID allowance or not).

She could play 3 more years, I'd like her to stay 'at least' 2 more to finish up her career with Azzi! She does make decent money on NIL!

My opinion is NO, she shouldn't. Azzi and Caroline probably shouldn't either. Why risk it? we're doing pretty well without them and to risk one or all 3 with what a possible 14-15 more games?? Sorry, it's their future and should get them ready for next year when the possibility of a solid 8-11 player rotation is there to cut down minutes played , Physical and mental Fatigue and less chance of a major injury. Again, Just my opinion.

Yes, she could. Depends on how fast she heals. Whether she should or not is a different question. Ultimately, if it is even possible, it should be her choice. If I were in her shoes, and I could play, I would be conflicted. On one hand, you burn a year. On the other hand, she has the covid year, if she wants it. Would she even WANT to use both? And if she thinks her addition could get them the championship, man, that is tough to turn down for a competitor like her. It would not shock me.

As for Azzi and Caroline, this year is already burned. If they can play without fear of making their injuries worse, you play...period.

I know everyone responds because they care about these young ladies, but we cannot play God. When the doctors say they are good to go, it would be torturing these thoroughbreds to wait another year. They only have so many chances in their life to win a National Championship.
Let’s listen to the experts - they will be conservative

It's not impossible
Just unlikely
Some super-athletes have recovered relatively quickly from ACL's
I wouldn't bet against, especially after what she said yesterday.

Well, Paige did tell respond to Geno's question about whether she would be playing in March with an affirmative answer. Of course, Geno said she was "lying her ass off." I do remember Adrian Peterson amazing everyone and coming back from ACL surgery after 8 months... and that was to play football! So maybe.....? Hey, a guy can dream, can't he? :) :) :)

I'm thinking she could be back for a full season next year, but it would not surprise me if she elected to go to the WNBA after that.
I think she wants to win at least one NC while at UConn and with all the money she's earning while in school there's not much economic reason to leave early........that's my hopeful opinion.......:)

Absolutely no. Like many have said she has little to gain and the possibility of reinjuring the knee would be substantially higher than waiting until the fall. If Azzi isn't 100% right now I would send her to a specialist and shut her down for the year too. It would be tragic if Paige and Azzi don't get one year when they both are healthy to show the base what is possible with them.

Bueckers already made this decision. You’re wasting your time discussing it.

I agree. Why go to the WNBA and have to play the grind of all those games when you can stay here make decent NIL money and play a lot less?

How long it takes her to fully recover depends on how bad the tear was. Also how fast she heals. She has an extra year to burn , Im sure shes not gonna stay in college past the date she can go to the WNBA so if shes ok to play, give her some minutes.
