We have a mix here of people who've seen recruits play and people who haven't. Both groups take their cues from others who've seen the players in action.

And much of that opinion fodder comes through the media -- including from people who are quoted by, among others, Mr. Adamec.

And all fans are entitled to exchange their views and opinions, whether well informed or less so. The least we can do to repay Adamec for his fine reporting is to supply him with evident amusement.

And the most we can do, for him and his peers, all of whom take full advantage of it, is to serve as an army of news gatherers and a window on fan sentiment.

So the condescension is a bit of a nip to the hand that feeds. Thanks for the food, you vacuous blabberers.

But we love you, Carl. Keep the good articles coming. And we'll keep doing what we do.

I guess Carl has never offered an OPINION on anyone he's not seen play - ever.

C'mon, that's what sports wags do (and get paid for their speculation)!

I think Carl's tongue was in his cheek when he wrote that...is there something that can be injected into the BoneYard to increase humor and its appreciation?

I think he is right
He is. But we do the same to reporters........comment on them without actually having read their columns.

Of course they've been known to form opinions of BYers without ever having met any. ;)

You mean posters here evaluate a player w/o ever having seen them play? Come on...

has anyone ever heard of YouTube ? it allows posters to evaluate a player without seeing them in person

Many posters on the Yard have seen these high schoolers play way more often than anyone in The Horde.

You tube is one of them teen-age fads, Oz. Like planking and coning and flash mobs.

Exactly. How many sportswriters have votes on college football and basketball and even baseball national polls who've never seen the team play or if so, they haven't seen them play during the previous week or weeks and yet they make judgement on their positions in the national polls. For instance, say Butler in preseason is expected to have a highly capable basketball team and they're undefeated (5-0) and they beat a big name school but it's only the 3rd week of the season. How do you vote them a specific number such as the "14th ranked team" in the country in your poll based on almost no information other than they haven't lost and they beat a big name school who you don't even know is any good at all. It's silly stuff but it happens often and why shouldn't we be entitled to be just as silly.
