No you 'verts, the Charleston Cougars.

Since I have your attention though what so we know about them They have a couple of guys who shoot it pretty good from 3, decent size according to the ESPN stats. A couple of frosh are getting plenty of PT and a big is getting 10 boards a game. They beat Furman and lost to Gardner Webb. (going by Webb they are decent having played LSU tough already in a loss).

Wondering if anyone saw them or knows anything about our comp tomorrow?

You did make it impossible not to click-on this thread, although had you placed an OT before the title, the clicks would have been even more staggering.

I wish this thread was about hot older women.
Hang in there. This tread is bound to turn

Getting back to CoC. Rick Berry's son plays for them.

Looks like Anthony Stitt is the man for CoC,
a 6 foot senior guard. He's the leading scorer averaging 15.5 a game.

Also he has never dunked in a game!

Can we get back to the cougars now?

We're a bunch of men who spend time obsessing over high school recruits' retweets.... I'm guessing the average BY wife doesn't look quite that good haha

If you drink enough they do!.......

LOL just a joke;)

Okay so back to the game. They were 11 for 21 from 3 vs Furman and 7-23 vs Gardner Webb. They will chuck them up and 3 of their leading scorers are shooting it at an over 57% pace after 2 games. Looks like we'll need to guard the perimeter and they have one big from the Ivory Coast who is at 80% shooting in 2 games and is averaging 13/10 thus far (6'9" Sr Baru)

They can play a little and our guys can't go down there on vacation with either new Mexico or Dayton next that's for sure. Nice early season tests!

They are picked to finish 8 out of the 10 team CAA. They don't have anyone selected to be on the All Conference team but their frontcourt is rated as the 3rd best in the CAA behind Northeastern and UNC Wilmington.

They return 3 starters from last years team that went 14-18 and have a new coach this year in Earl Grant who was an assistant under Gregg Marshall at Winthrop and Wichita St. There was a cloud of uncertainty with the program last year so chemistry and trust is something Grant wants to build and work on this year. Grant was named the head coach only 2 months prior to their first game so he hasn't had a ton of time to get to know his players.

Grants blueprint is built around defense and rebounding which can generate easy offense. He wants to create easy offense by getting up and down the floor while pushing and attacking. The half court offense is still a work in progress as Grant said he wants to create sets that will highlight his players strengths but it will take time to fully understand what his players strengths are.

Anthony Stitt and Adjehi Baru are returning starters and leaders of the team. Stitt led the team in assists last year but struggled shooting (35.4% from the field and 55.7% from FT line). Grant hopes transition basketball will help Stitt's FG%. Baru is a 6'9 forward who was CAA All Defensive team last year and shot 50% from the floor.

Joe Chealey and Canyon Barry, son of Rick Barry, will help out Stitt in the backcourt. Both were members of the CAA All Freshman team last year. Both have some size also with Chealey 6'3 and Barry a rangy 6'6. They also have a 6'4 freshman in Cameron Johnson who should get some playing time.

Up front they have plenty of size. They have a 7'2 265 lb junior center in David Wishon who had minimal impact last year 2.4 ppg and 2.7 rpg but is looking to get more PT. They also have a couple 6'7 forwards, Terrance O'Donahue will see time along with Donovan Gilmore. Nick harris is a 6'10 forward who might see time if there is fould trouble.

All in all CoC is a team trying to find its identity. New coach and system with limited time prior to the season to get to know his players and implement his system and schemes to fit the personnel.

Hope we foul Canyon Berry at least once while shooting. He shoots free throws like his dad.

Canyon Barry has quite an age gap between his older brothers Scooter, Jon and Brent.

I was trying to figure out who Berry's Dad was.

Fred (i.e. Rerun)?
Chuck?
Bill the drummer from REM?
Halle's husband?
Wendell the writer?

And then it hit me, how could I be so stupid.

It is Walter Berry's soon, of course.

Those 4 - three of whom played NBA - are half brothers.

And he shoots underhand. But that stroke does not look like Dad. Trust me.

He looks like he's forcing it, short arming it - dad was smooth with air under it.

The old man's stroke was definitely much smoother… He flipped the ball so softly that sometimes it looked like it would get caught in the net & never hit the floor.

That program was heading in the right direction under Cremins in the SOCON. Stitt and Baru were both top 150 recruits if I remember correctly but neither has lived up to the hype and the program has regressed. That being said they have the senior leadership and have something to prove which we all know can be dangerous. This isn't cupcake city but if we shut down driving lanes and get out in transition we could run them out of the building.
