This should have never have gotten this far, to begin with. The individuals sitting on the Ethics board have way to much power for something that happens all the time in college sports.

Good lesson in civics 101. You feel disadvantaged by a government policy you have the right to period the government for redress. That is what Edsall did and he won. The ethics chairwoman is mad because she wasn’t paying attention and got it shoved up her ... Now she has less power. That bums her out but she will never say that.

BTW this is hardly unique. The Courants reaction and the chairman’s reaction are pretty funny. They are shocked, shocked I tell you, that the politics happened in the State Legislature. I long for the days when the honorable Richard J Dailey of Chicago told a reporter who complained that he gave a city contract to his son, “If you don’t think i’ll Do whatever I can to help my kid, you can kiss my ass.” The goo goos were upset but his favorability rating went up.
