Went to the PC game and got there early to watch warmups and so my 10 year old could get some autographs. I knew from previous seasons that Hurley enters the building late and through section 108, where we were sitting.

This year he walked down the stairs of our section again, with Paul Wetterman, right past us. We cheered for him and he nodded but he wears AirPods and keeps it moving just like previous years. When he got to the bottom of the section and just before leaving for the locker room he turned and said something to wetterman while pointing at my son and his buddy. Had no clue what it was.

A minute later PW came back and grabbed the boys’ posters and brought them to the locker room for Hurley to sign. Very nice gesture that he didn’t have to make. Go huskies!

Great story, but I'm not surprised at all.

When the 2023-24 team won the National Championship I was able to go to the victory celebration at Gampel the following night. Coach Hurley came over to our section near mid court and signed autographs, took photos and genuinely celebrated with the fans. It was pretty awesome!

Yeah Hurley is great with the UConn fans. When all the fans of the teams in the Maui Invitational were in the lobby after each of the coaches did the Q & A Sunday morning before the tournament, Hurley was really receptive to the UConn fans including myself.
Maui??
I'll bet he was less and less receptive as the week went on... 😉

I almost ran into Hurley (virtually) when I was running with my family through the Barcelona airport trying to make our flight in 2023. They were on their summer Europe tour. Hurley took time away from the coaches to talk to me and take a picture, and he said the rest of the team was on its way. He was very gracious, and joked that “it will be hard to miss Donovan”. It looked like an eclipse happened when DC entered the concourse.

LOL, that is why I specifically made it a point to mention it was a Sunday, the day before the tournament started. My wife really wants to meet Andrea Hurley. It would have been easy to approach her after the Dayton game, but I told my wife, "yeaaah, no. Not a good time".

I looked quick and thought it was Dustin Hoffman.

Relating to children. Sports world is huge to kids. Make a Husky fan for life with a lifetime memory. Divine inspiration. Way to go Danny.

I met Dan Hurley at his meet & greet at the Rent when he was hired. He literally walked around the room before and walked up to groups of people during cocktail hour.
Nice guy, even before he saved our world. 😉
