Connecticut: Will the new coordinators make an early impact? UConn's newest staff members have two very different goals for the 2013 season: One must drastically improve his offense, while the other must maintain the status quo on defense. The Huskies finished as the Big East's worst scoring offense (17.8 points per game) and total offense (318.3 yards per game) last season, prompting the demotion of coordinator George DeLeone to offensive line coach. Former Cincinnati receivers coach T.J. Weist is now tasked with retooling the attack, and he'll look to returning quarterback Chandler Witmer -- who managed only nine touchdowns against 16 interceptions last season -- to show maturation this spring. Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the ball, the departure of coordinator Don Brown to Boston College opened the door for defensive line coach Hank Hughes to take the reins of a unit that ranked ninth in the nation in total defense. Standout linebacker Yawin Smallwood and Co. will look to be even more suffocating in 2013.

I'm looking forward to more shotgun and 4-5 wr sets. Chandler looked more comfortable in the shottie and will give him another second to see the field. Maybe some more screen passes as well is in order.

To all the 'quitters' and 'reformed quitters' out there, from those who haven't quit: " I know you think we understood what we thought you said, but I'm not sure you realize that what we heard is not what you meant."

Well they better make an immediately successful impact because time is running out and they all might be looking for new jobs if they don't.

That's because we don't have a Quit button.
Once my stepfather, in a a moment of panic while sailing, broke off the throttle handle on his boat (not an isolated incident). Next weekend there was a rubber "panic button" installed on the steering gear just below the wheel (Mom). In that same spirit I have drawn a "Quit CR" button on my monitor with a Sharpie. In moments of extreme angst I can punch it repeatedly and gain the calming effect of feeling like I'm doing something. So far I haven't broken my monitor...

Yes. Take the game plan from the new england patriots in 2007. Instead of the run setting up the pass, have the short pass set up the long pass. UConn will have a few receivers 6+ feet with good athleticism that should be able to make plays 15+ yards down the field. I don't mind the QB throwing a few interceptions down the field as long as those are accompanied by some big plays to counteract the turnovers. I would be very happy with something like 19 TD throws to 13 Interceptions assuming most of the interceptions occur 30+ yards down field and are more like a punt than a turnover. That type of passing would also open up the run and the offense would really be clicking on UConn standards. I feel like there is more pressure on Hughes because he has to maintain excellence, but he has a good excuse to just say we lost 4 draft picks to the NFL so it was a rebuilding year. Weist has less pressure because any sort of decent offense will be a big improvement from last year, but UConn fans are going to be very frustrated if we lose a lot of games because the offense can't score at least 20 points. Remember that if the defense isn't as good the field position won't be as good either. Meaning the offense will have to get a lot more yards just to score 20 points per game.
