[QUOTE="Bigboote, post: 3685369, member: 7631"] The recovery time seems about right. I've had (likely) similar surgery to what AT would need -- fixing the labrum and stabilizing the shoulder. Mine had to be pretty much immobilized for a few days, then in a sling all the time for maybe three weeks. Then PT started, and I think I went for two months. 3-4 months later, I was bottling beer and discovered that I literally couldn't lift a beer bottle up to hold it below the spigot of the bottling bucket, but I did have full range of motion by then. A couple of things about Alyssa Thomas: I remember in college she dislocated a shoulder and was playing again within a week. (After the second or third time I dislocated mine, the orthopedist said the only reason to wear a sling is for comfort -- the joint is so loose by then that resuming full activity the next day doesn't do any more damage.) Her tolerance for pain is so high that I'm sure she'd go nuts in PT and have a much accelerated recovery. Of course, too much too fast WILL damage the repaired joint. Regarding her having the surgery -- I doubt she could have both shoulders done at once or even within a month of each other, so she might be looking at a full year, or two offseasons, to have them both repaired.
