Yup, I know it's only game three but this season more than most the Sun must beat the team they should beat. No playing down, no letting up. This is a Commissioner's Cup game and the schedule turns decidedly against the Sun - 3 games in 5 days on the west coast against arguably the best 3 teams in the league. Merc, Aces, Storm - Murderer's Row. It doesn't get much better from there...
5/28 Mystics in a one game homestand before bouncing out for a
5/30 Lynx at Minny bounce back home for
6/1 Aces making a 7 game in 13 day run before a merciful 3 day break before hosting the red-hot Liberty on
6/5 Liberty. Then it's
6/13 Storm again before heading to Chicago for TWO CONSECUTIVE games against the Sky (?!?!)
6/17 Sky
6/19 Sky !!

While there are no easy games or cake schedules in the W, this seems particularly bad.
There's a bunch of those "same team, consecutive games, same location" games on the schedule. I hate 'em whether home or away.

I love my Sun, but it will take a HUGE effort to be a .500 team at the Olympic break.

Connecticut is special. DB is a jewel. I think they are considerably better than Phoenix. Right now I would put them as one of the elite teams in the league before I would put the Merc there. We will see how Phoenix is once everyone is back from Europe and healthy.

I agree it is a good team on paper, a "who's-who of women's basketball"? No, not at this level.

I was there and trust me, they were not a good team last night.
Given their situation it was quite surprising that (after the Sun reeled in the Fever's initial run) they were kind of lackadaisical and disconnected with one another. They lacked any real "fight". When you start 0-2 there should be a real urgency to right the ship, and that worried me going into this one. Didn't see that.

Lauren Cox has not played at all this season.

I hope you are right. There's a good chance that the Sun will be without Briann January for the Phoenix game and maybe more. She was a huge factor in the Sun's win v. the Merc last Sunday. Big loss. Puts Natisha in the starting line-up and throws some pressure on Kaila to step up at both ends. Might be too much to ask that DiJonai carry some of the load, but that would be a big plus.

The new Sun logo is actually very impressive. I actually like it better than the Hartford Whalers logo.

The team just needs to draft Paige Bueckers.

Remember this moment in Sun history? 5'9" Becky Hammon vs 7'2" Margo Dydek.
