Chicago looked flat against Minnesota earlier in the week. They look much better tonight and lead 39-27.

I was watching it and saw a hand go up for a one-handed bound above the rim. I thought, "Wow." Actually, it was Gabulous.

She has 3 steals before halftime and continues to lead the league.

Diamond DeShields, Courtney Williams, and Gabby Williams in the same game. Oooooh!

Stef Dolson looking like Steph Curry, hitting jumpers from everywhere.

54-38, Chicago at the half. Sloot has 13 and Stef has 11. Chiney has 12 for the Sun, half of them on the FT line.

Connecticut has cut the lead from 20 to 6 at the end of the 3rd Q.

Stricklen hit three 3s in a little over a minute, Jonquel hit one, and Jasmine hit one just before the end of the quarter.

Another strong game for Sloot. 15 points on 7-10 shooting and 12 assists, still 6+ minutes to go. With that I believe she is now in the top 10 for career assists.

Diamond just dove for a loose ball and took out Laney's legs. It looked like the Angel injury, but fortunately Betnijah was ok.

I believe she jumped from #12 to #10, passing Dawn Staley and Teresa Weatherspoon. Sloot should be #9 by the end of the season. She is within 1,500 of Bird.

Chicago has 33 assists. The single-game record is 35 by Minnesota.

18 points and 15 assists for Sloot. I think she had 15 the game when she got a triple double. One off the single game record?

She is within 1,500 of Bird.

Prior to this game, Sloot had played 4 less games than Bird and was actually 2 behind her for total assists this season. So not gaining at all despite her torrid 8.4/game average.

Chicago tied the assist record at 35. Then they fouled intentionally to get one more possession to try for the record. Coach Miller was very unhappy and called it "bush league." He instructed his players to foul intentionally to prevent the record.

Wow, Miller and Stocks USED TO BE good buds. I guess not so much tonight. Curt was obviously upset and Amber was clearly not thrilled to be called out on it. Sunday they go again.

In reviewing the stats from tonight's game and a number of criticisms leveled at Chicago's coach, one has to wonder how a poorly coached team can have 39 field goals, 35 of which were assisted?

I think Sloot has had 15 at least twice. Penicheiro had 16 a couple of times, according to the announcers.

Sloot is averaging more than Sue, but Bird's historical total is insane. She has 222 more than #2 (Penicheiro) and 484 more than #3 (Whalen).

Chicago and Sloot looked good tonight. Six players in double figures, including all the starters. Gabby had 11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. She hit jumpers, including from the arc.

Did someone call her a bad coach?

Connecticut had 16 assists. :)

Not to change the subject but ... maybe the most untouchable career record is Catch's steals total of 1,074. That's 310 or 40% better than the #2 player (Penicheiro). It's also over 2.3 per game for a career. Gabby leads the league now with 1.7 spg.

So what say you... up 10, seconds left, foul and take time outs to go for personal and team records?

I say: 1) it is very disrespectful and bush league to do that and 2) Miller should have respected his friend enough to address it in private. Counter the attempt as he did, but don't carry on like that.

When you are close to a record/milestone/major accomplishment you go for it.

Gabby looked really confident on both ends. Defensively she was challenging everything and attacking the boards and not overthinking her positioning etc. I really liked her body language (and love her new doo :))

Not to mention Dolson who's shooting was pure. Glad to see them having fun at home in a cruddy season. :):)

When Chicago looks good, they look very good, especially on offense. Sloot, Diamond, and Gabby can run. Quigley is a great shooter. Stef is a shooter. Parker looks solid and Coates is adjusting. They could be a playoff team next year.
