Allmendinger, who had originally accepted an invitation to be a preferred walk-on, was offered a scholarship Sunday.

“I was playing really well during my senior season,” Allmendinger said at the Walter Camp event. “After each game I was sending my film out and they asked if I want to play fullback for them. I looked around but my brother goes there, it is a great opportunity from an educational standpoint and the football is on the rise. I like the coach, it was a great fit for me.

“They don’t actually have a true fullback on their team and they even told me that they couldn’t run specific plays because they don’t have a fullback and they said ‘you look like you could be a great fit for that position.’ That intrigues me and gives me a sense that I am going to get looked at. I am not saying that I am going to start because nothing is earned until it is earned, but maybe I have a chance to get looked at a little earlier than maybe somebody else. If I do get an opportunity, I will be sure to not waste it.”

Still no mention of Jack Giaconia --- Need some suspense for Wednesday?

Also Fuller notes that Allmendinger was offered a scholarship on Sunday from PWO status earlier whereas another CT publication from Avon is reporting PWO. All good either way.

Confirmed on JG.

Love Giaconia's size and motor. Not the fleetest of foot, but does move his feet well in small spaces. Love how he uses his hand and strength at the LOS. I see him more of an interior DL who can demand a double-team. But, with some work could play OG or C, possibly. Either way, he adds competition, size, and depth to a position of need. Hopefully, he see the opportunity to compete and EARNS a scholly, in time. Welcome aboard Jack!!!
