Impressive showing by the PAC 12. The Media/Experts said the SEC was the dominant WBB conference. After the first round the SEC had some good teams but no dominant teams. Lack of scoring caused the SEC teams to lose. The conference was fortunate that the Lady Vols had a good run.

Pac 12 won the RPI battle and they won the tournament whatever happens in Indianapolis. A very impressive run for them and really a surprise to me. They have made a believer of me. They are responsible for taking out two #1 seeds and a three seed in upsets.

That is not accurate. Michigan State was the worst 4 seed, so they would have been matched with the best 5 seed. That is the ideal, although the Bracket builders often take regional and conference match ups into account.

Also, the percentages cited in this thread are totally meaningless, since every conference had a different number of teams in the tournament. The fact that the AAC has the best percentage indicates just how skewed conference winning percentages really are. RPI had the Pac 12 as the best conference, with the SEC second. The results of this tournament did nothing to dispute the accuracy of that stat.

Don't think so. All of the computer ratings have been clear all season that the PAC was the strongest conference. I don't recall anyone in media saying anything different.

Not referring to you, but many on the BY tend to translate anything positive that anyone says about the SEC as "xx just said the SEC was the toughest conference ever."

Tutorial on seedings. The Top seed gets the worst two seed, the best three seed, the worst four seed and the best five seed.
1-8-9-16-17-24
2-7-10-15-18-23
3-6-11-14-19-22
4-5-12-13-20-21 etc. all the way through 64

It follows the principle that every team ranked higher has earned the right to play a team ranked lower, while every team ranked lower must play a team ranked higher.

Ideally, yes. But there are other seeding rules that come into play. For example, the fact that teams from the same conference can't be in the top 4 of the same region. So even if Oregon St was #5 overall and Stanford was #13, they would not have been in the same bracket.
Then after moving around teams to avoid this issue (and some other factors), the committee checks the strength of each region. If one region is too weak/too strong, they will do further movement of teams to rebalance.

Bottom line: you cannot definitively conclude that Texas was #8, UCLA was #9, and Mich St #16.

The only thing we know for sure, because they told us, was that the top 4 in order was UConn, SC, ND, Baylor.
