Conference Tournament Attendance 2023

So far 5 of the P6 have conducted their Tournaments and below is a listing by Average session attendance (what is posted), total attendance for the tournament and I also included 2022 and 2020 (2021 being Covid). Two items to note, Attendance at the conference level is improving although the PAC12 can't seem to really improve it and the sad new is Las Vegas actually helped. 2nd item-the 2020 listing for the Big East (top number) and the AAC (last year UConn was in it). So the numbers for the Big East are driven by UConn. While not quite as good as 2013, it is improving. Kudos to the SEC and the SC influence! @triaddukefan needs to start bringing a few more friends to Greensboro as on TV there were quite a few empty seats for such a "hotbed" of hoop....

The Big 12 gets started on Thursday. Here is the 2022 and 2019 attendance numbers (remember the 2020 conference tournament was cancelled due to Covid, whereas the other conferences had completed theirs by the time a full isolation policy was implemented.

Question re the 2022 numbers for the Big 10. Is the total correct or is that a typo? The math doesn't add up based on the average listed.

The Big 10 only posted numbers for the last 2 sessions

Final stats are in with the Big 12 finishing yesterday. They snuck into the #5 slot ahead of the PAC 12. Honestly, while an improvement over 2022, those are some paltry numbers for the bottom 3 conferences-ACC, Big 12 and PAC-12.

?????????? Something seems wrong on the Big Ten's 2022 totals which make it look like there were only two sessions. I doubt that. Either the average is wrong or the total is wrong.

I asked this question of @DefenseBB. They advised this was the only data available (refer to post #4 ).

The Big 10 wiki page and all the Big 10 schools who participated in the first rounds of their 2022 tournament did NOT POST any attendance figures. They all showed 0.

Jeesh, some people! Go and look for yourselves if you are so inclined.

Wonder if the NC schools bowing out early had a dampening effect on attendance for the ACC tournament. Having strong local schools around the conference site and advancing to the final does help.

Here is the last 9 years of attendance for the ACC and the numbers do not seem to match your "local school" hypothesis. Could it be the ACC is losing it's basketball relevance
