Mo is 1" to 1.5" taller than Crystal, and her wingspan may be 4"-5" longer. To me, that is the biggest difference on defense. Mo could get deflections, steals, and rebounds that Crystal can't quite get to. I agree about Mo being able to gamble more having Stef, Kiah, and/or Stewie as the last line of defense. Two of them were NDPOY. On offense, I think Crystal is a little more advanced and has better instincts as a passer. Both struggled with their jump shots as freshman. Crystal struggled with FTs as well. Mo's length and elevation helped her with layups in traffic. Crystal tends to protect the ball and not have the arm extension that Mo has. In terms of shooting percentage, Mo was sensational. As a senior, she shot .557/.431./.894. As a junior, .587/.496/.843, outshooting the great KML from the arc. As a sophomore, .575/.418/.768. Guards rarely shoot in the .550-.590 range. Some big name guards struggle to get to .400. Mo has some of the highest shooting stats for UConn--regardless of position. I look for Crystal to make the sophomore leap, as Mo did. I think she will be the leader for the U-19 team. Whether she starts or not, she will be a key player for us this season. I think she'll be in the Lieberman conversation at least once, if not twice or three times. Jordan Canada appears to the the pre-season favorite.
