We've had many discussions over the years about referring, usually sharing angst about the poor state of it, especially as it applies to WBB.
Based on the games I've watched this year, I've had the sense that the refereeing has generally been better than in past years. Until last night's SC/MSU affair.
I was surprised at how poorly it was called largely because I think Dee Kantner is one of the best refs in the game.
Which leads to a question for those who are familiar with college refereeing.
For the three three officials working the game, is one of them a lead official, in the same way that an NFL referee is head of his crew? If yes, is the lead ref assigned or does the crew choose among themselves?
