2027 Recruiting: Colton Hiller

Best in his class

How many kids have you evaluated in the 2028 rising sophomore class? Genuinely asking or did you just hear someone say that?

By the way he looks a little like Tom Hardy, gotta be a tough SOB walking around like Bane or the Warrior all day.

He’s an unusually savvy high school basketball player. Very skilled, shoots the eyeballs out of it, but the pace he plays at is what stands out. Totally unflappable. I think this kid is going to wreak havoc on college basketball.

No question. I see the same things.

I’m just wondering about the declarative statement about him being the best player in his class.

I don’t think it’s a wild statement. This kid is the real deal.

… Again, for the 3rd time, not saying it’s a wild statement.

Just wondering HOW he came to that conclusion - people that say stuff like that generally have watched and seriously analyzed at least the top 10-20 kids in the class.

If he did, awesome! If he didn’t but he heard from some other source that opinion, also awesome! If he’s just saying it randomly, well, it could be true but that’s just random statements being thrown around.

I was simply asking how he came to that conclusion. Saying a kid is the best kid in his class period indicates he knows or feels this strongly.

Or he’s expressing an opinion. It could be that. Good lord.

Why are you defending him so rigorously? I’m literally asking HOW he came to this conclusion, so if it’s just his opinion I’m looking to hear that plus why he thinks that…you’re making it way more serious than he it is.

Saying someone is the literal best player in an entire class of players would require some level of knowledge of other players, no? Even just an opinion usually requires some level of baseline knowledge. But maybe I’m weird. Just was asking how much he knows about other players in the class to make such a declaration.

But sorry for offending you.

ESPN is the only recruiting service I can find that has 2028 rankings already. They have Hiller 4th, so in the top tier and the same "Grade" as the top 3. Obviously it's very early for 2028 recruits to be ranked and things will change with the rankings, which aren't the be all end all anyway. I'm sure they've watched all these kids to rank them (at least I hope they have!).

Right on cue On3 has an article on him. I couldn't get an alternate access to work. Anyone have an On3 account who wants to give us a summary?

from the article
"“Right now I have offers from Villanova, Missouri, Kansas State, UConn, NC State, NJIT, Penn State, Kansas State, a couple others,” Hiller said. “I’ve only been on campus at Penn State so far.” "
and he talked about Penn State a bit and that was pretty much it.
