UConn is a mid range ACC football program. But, they're not officially in the ACC. They're independent. So, recruiting and free agent signing is beyond difficult. Going to the Pac 12 gives him a miniscule advantage. It's a joke conference, but it's a conference. With UConn sports having Championship caliber Women and Men's BB, playoff quality hockey and CWS tournament baseball, his resurrection of football should have given the school invites to either the ACC or the Big Ten. But for some inexplicable reason it isn't even a speculation. So, I can't fault him for considering leaving.

I would have understood if he took the Cal job but COLORADO ST?!? Do yall think Sammis is going with him?

I would imagine Benedict has a list of candidates to replace any coach. What if Geno all of a sudden decides to retire or Hurley takes an NBA job ....? You have to be prepared for anything and can't be caught off guard. I would love to get a peak at those lists.

Screw big names - give me proven track record in a difficult environment. Playing the name cachet game often blows up.
Yeah. Promote internal, or, go get a retread who is charismatic. They need a portal recruiter and a name.

I'm thankful for everything Jim did for us, but this is not the end of the world. It kind of makes sense for him to leave after losing his star QB/WR (maybe Edwards too?). He probably wants to ski 3 months a year in the offseason and Mohawk Mountain has nothing on the Rockies.

The NIL infrastructure will remain with Mora gone. He showed the proof that it can pay off, now it's time to get the guy to bring us to the Big XII.

I didn't realize it until looking it up just now, but Colorado State has been pretty bad for a while. Last year was their only bowl appearance since 2017. I guess the Pac-12 will be a little better than the current Mountain West?

I will say that I hope he stays for the bowl game. It'll feel a little worse if he leaves us high and dry to cap off our best back-to-back seasons in almost 20 years.
