Collier AAC Player of the Week

I commented this in another post, and I'll repeat it here, IF Collier continues to play at the high level she has thus far the remainder of the season, she must be recognized as a 1st team All-American this year.
She's playing as well as any of the other top candidates, and she's doing it consistently!

Tamika Williams is widely regarded as the most accurate shooter in UCONN history having shot better than 70% in three different season while at UCONN. With her performance thus far this year Napheesa has reopened the conversation of most accurate UCONN shooter. '98-'99 was Tamika's worst percentage & highest volume year in which she shot 65.8% on 263 attempts. So far this year Napheesa is shooting 67.5% on 265 attempts.

Wasn't it Tamika who missed the 8-foot buzzer-beater shot against Duke in 2006, when UCONN lost by two at home in the Regional Final? That year Duke lost to MD in OT in the Championship Game......................

Tamika still holds the NCAA record for career field goal percentage (all 3 divisions) at 70.3%

per Wikipedia: Williams was heavily recruited by numerous collegiate teams. In 1997, she was the subject of a seven-page feature in a January 1998 issue of a Sports Illustrated magazine article on the pressures of being recruited. Ohio State arranged for a private jet to fly Williams from her home in Dayton to Columbus, approximately 70 miles away. She mentioned this to UConn coach Geno Auriemma, who responded by mailing her a little wooden plane, explaining, "Sorry, Tamika. This is the best we can do.".

Williams attended the University of Connecticut, majored in interpersonal communications, and served as President of UConn's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. From 1998 to 2002 she was part of the UConn basketball team, which became NCAA Division I National Championship teams in 2000 and 2002 under coach Geno Auriemma.

During the 2002 WNBA Draft, the Minnesota Lynx selected Williams in the first round, sixth overall. In 2003, she set a WNBA single-season record for field-goal accuracy, with a percentage of 66.8%.

Do you think they confused Napheesa with Soniya like Geno did?
Got the message---Chong---Chong---Chong!! The trouble with life--if you are not loud and flashy
and just plug along and get the job done--not matter how well--you may not be seen--4.3 To/Assist
spectacular!! Steady eddie--With all the bad press, some from me, she certainly should get loud press saying how great she is doing--NHR has give credit where credit was due.
Now you cannot negate how important Napheesa, Precious, was to the win against Tulsa.

Why wouldn't she a high average--"she never took a shot more than 2 ft from the basket" (Geno)
She made them all except the shot at games end with the perfect pass to Sveta--who opted to give it to Tamika with seconds left--bungled play, perfectly designed.

I think everyone who has averaged 19 ppg at UConn has earned 1st team AA honors that season. Kerry did it, Maya did it, and Stewie did it twice. Right now, Pheesa and Lou are both doing it.

Yes, that 4.3 assists / turnover ratio is just insane. Does anyone know what the best yearly avg. is for wcbb?

Tamika missed an 8 or so fter after accepting a pass from Sveta--with seconds on the clock---Geno set up an almost perfect play---the ball went to Sveta , un apposed, she was to have taken the shot--and Tamika to rebound and put it back should it miss--Sveta changed the play-- this was prior to 2006
Sveta was gone by then --2002???? Tamika graduated with Sue, Swin, Ajsia, --

The NCAA record book doesn't show a list of all time assist-to-turnovers leaders, but they do list the Annual Individual Champion from each season since 2008, and the highest of those is Gillian Abshire of Quinnipiac in 2015, with a ratio of 4.15 (216/52).
