College Football Playoff First Round

Here is the thing. The P2 has it share of dogs. If the goal is coronate the top third of each conference to the playoffs, it will be a rinse and repeat annual event with a fixed audience watching a junior professional league with designated “team good guys”, Notre Dame, coming in as the dancing bear for broader reach outside trailer parks and ice fishing ice porta cabins. System sucks and is guaranteed to get worse. Glad Miami is a pebble in their shoe. The games that interested me were jMU, Tulane and Miami. Other than Miami I couldn’t give 2 deuces about the same old hyped up professionals posing as poor college students.

UCLA vs Oregon should be an interesting game in the future. Have to think Chesney will score at will given more $ and P4 recruiting ability.

Expand to 16, P4 champs and highest G5 champ get autobids, 11 at large.
24. All conference champs get autobid and SEC and Big 10 can get the rest of the 14. ND will never have to join a conference and we'll ge some great matchups. Anyone that says this won't work look, it works at the FCS level. No one though NDSU would lose. In fact, they were predicted to run the table dominantly. They lost and look what we got a great playoff with amazing games. The problem isn't the G5 is "worse" than the P4. The problem is the "bigger" schools don't want a level playing field because then they don't get to horde talent with NIL deals and play cupcake schedules to have a self fulfilling prophecy of being a top 10 team because they plays tareton st, rutgers, Charlotte and UMass.

There's a lot more parity in FCS. 24 in FBS would water down the games.

.-.

Not that I'm disgreeing with you, but NDSU has won 10 of the last 14 national championships. That's not really parity if you ask me.

I’ll bite: JMU did not leave the FCS to be relegated back into a lower tier. And requiring a spending budget to make the playoffs is only gonna turn the sport further into a money grab/pit.

You’ve been very anti-P4 for UConn specifically. Not trying to poke a bear here but I’m a bit surprised this is your take honestly.

College football is finished as a major sport unless something is done to normalize the competition and who plays who. Some combination of revenue sharing and tiring are going to have to happen, or the sport will become a series of tedious blowouts, even within conferences.

I guess some fans will enjoy that for some reason, but I think most fans will get bored.
