Yea Happy Holidays and New Year and all that, the Roundup returns!
Notable games and goings on:
Next UConn game: Tomorrow Jan. 5th vs Temple @ 8pm
Next 5 UConn games:
-Sat. Jan. 9th vs Memphis 7pm
-Tue. Jan. 14th at Tulsa 7pm
-Sun. Jan. 17th at Houston 2pm
-Tue. Jan. 19th vs Tulane 7pm
-Sat. Jan. 23rd vs Georgetown 12pm
UConn in the NBA: The Kings beat the Thunder as Rudy had a blah game, 16 & 5, Caron DNP. The Pistons walloped the Magic, Drum had 17 & 12 and Shabazz had his second decent game (for him) in a row with 10 pts in 27 min as Payton sat with an ankle. Kemba, Lamb and the Hornets are facing the Warriors, Kemba is already faring better (14 pts in the 3rd) than last time against Curry when he got outscored 40-4, Lamb with 12 pts so far.
Former UConn Opponents: CCSU lost to LIU-Brooklyn 76-67, Sacred Heart lost to St. Francis 84-80
Top 25 Action: #1 Kansas beat #2 Oklahoma 109-106 in 3 OT (Buddy Hield is ridiculously good, 48 pts, 8 rbs, 7 ast, and I think this game will go a long way towards winning him POY votes. Kansas very well might be the most complete team in the country, but they feel like they're missing just that killer scorer), #6 UNC beat FSU 106-90 (In the no D ACC, XRM had 30 in this game as both team's scored at will), #17 WVU beat TCU 95-87
P5 Upsets (Now that we are in conference season, this section will be devoted to underdog wins): #4 Virginia lost to Virginia Tech 70-68 (In case you missed it Chris Clarke broke a bone in his foot, I would wager he'll miss the rest of the season, shame)
Other News & Notes: Bracketology has us as a 7 seed in the East. I don't necessarily disagree but I sure hope we can get some decent wins the rest of the way to improve that. Here are our vitals according to ESPN.
