College basketball Champions League

Not an interesting idea at all. It's called the NCAA Tournament. It might be interesting if this "College Basketball Champions League" just included recent national champions over the previous ten year or something of that nature. But including over 40 teams is just silly.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say you're not familiar with the Champions League from whence this idea comes.

"Not an interesting idea at all" made me laugh. A season long tournament featuring the most high profile teams in America, who would possibly watch that?

Not saying I wouldn't watch, but I still think it's kind of a ridiculous idea to create a 45 team tournament that includes a team from each conference, plus various automatic bids based on the previous season's record. There's already a March Madness.

I could go for like an eight team tournament. But as conn13 said, 20+ teams seems like an overkill. I didn't read the entire article, but I imagine logistics would be a problem

One problem with college bball and Champions League is the turnover in college ball. A 3rd place team in one conference might not be anywhere near the same team the next year.

Hi, Malaga.

they should throw in the bottom 2 teams record wise in the NBA as punishment (relegation) for tanking.

Why not just have it as the same format as the champions league if you're already going to steal their idea. 32 teams to start with 8 divisions of 4 teams each. The first round is done round-robbin style to cut it in half. After that its elimination every round with reseeding done every round.

I stopped reading after he wrote the first round would be home-and-homes with all three teams in your group. I didn't count the total number of games, but it sounded to me like it could be much greater than a typical current OOC schedule. So much for preseason neutral tourneys everyone likes, including the players.
