Cole and Martin can still return if not drafted

as much as i'd love a cole / newton / aj / martin / sanogo starting lineup they arent coming back b/c neither left with the expectation of being drafted in the first place. even if they did come back neither would go in the first round next year as 25 year olds. finally, we would be preseason #1 if they both came back.

They don’t have to deal with curfews, (hopefully) Covid breaks, class schedules, study halls anymore. They are out

they signed with agents and have already become professional players, so they cannot return.

also, plenty of guys make the league going undrafted and coming up through the g-league. it might actually be the best route for a guy like tyrese martin, depending on which team he signs with. the miami heat, who have started the undrafted trio gabe vincent, max strus, and duncan robinson each at various points this year, are probably best at doing this.

I think there is a new rule that if you sign with an NCAA certified agent agent and go undrafted then you can return to school. Are Martin and Cole considered "underclassmen" since they still have eligibility left because of the Covid extra year?

Doesn't matter anyway since neither is coming back. I wouldn't even think about it.

Since 2016, eligible underclassmen were able to enter the NBA draft, participate in the combine and then return to school as long as they withdrew from the draft no more than 10 days after the combine.

Pending anticipated approval from the NBA and National Basketball Players Association, the NCAA will now allow underclassmen to enter the draft, participate in the combine and then return to school if they go undrafted. The only requirements are that they request an evaluation from the NBA Undergraduate Advisory Council before deciding to enter the draft and then notify their school's athletics director of their intention to return by 5 p.m. on the Monday after the draft.

The players who return would be ineligible for the NBA draft until the end of the next college basketball season.

There's zero chance they'd cone back even if they aren't with an agent because both guys are extremely thoughtful and deliberate in their future plans. They've made their smart decisions and they're going to represent themselves, their families, and UConn Nation really well in everything they do. :)

I though Martin got a G league deal
Lol. No, just invited to the G League Elite Camp.

The 2022 NBA G League Elite Camp gives draft prospects an opportunity to display their skills in front of NBA and NBA G League scouts, coaches and front-office executives over the course of the camp by playing in five-on-five games and participating in strength and agility drills.

Based on performance, select players from the NBA G League Elite Camp will be invited to participate in Microsoft Surface NBA Draft Combine 2022, which will be held May 18-22 at Wintrust Arena.

They want to be professional basketball players. They are 23?, 24? Their upside NBA potential-wise has hit the ceiling. They don't have much time. Unless you are Tom Brady or Bernard Hopkins, athletic careers age in dog years compared to the rest of us. Not even a choice, really.

Cole and Martin can return to UConn if not drafted per new rules. they could be first round picks next draft and we instantly enter the top 10
NCAA Announces CBB Rule Change to Allow Players to Return to School If Undrafted. The NCAA announced a rule change Wednesday that will allow players to return to school if they declare for the NBA draft but are not selected.

75% of all un drafted underclassmen return. Will a year riding the bus in the G league get them closer to the NBA. I suggest they both reach out to Daniel Hamilton

G League pays, and they don't have to go to class. One less big hoop (pun intended) to deal with.

Next up for the NCAA is to nix the ban on anyone taking money to play the sport. They have to allow college players who accept money for being really good at what they do (name [brand] = money). It's absurd to ban players who accept money for actually playing, when it's ok to pay those who are fungible because they play college ball.
