Football practice starts today and tonight I saw the first six pack of Sam Adams Octoberfest beer at the liquor store.

I know this isn't where you are going with it, but is anyone else a little annoyed at the push to fall beer already? Feels like when stores stock Xmas stuff before Halloween. Dammit I want to enjoy my Sam Summer well in to September!

It's not just fall beer - the distributors are pushing their seasonal brands out a good month+ ahead of time.

Say this every summer! I love spring/summer beer and am not much of a darker/heavier beer drinker. Was in the package store and the owner saw me carrying a 12 pack of summer shandy. He said I'd better stock up as production of summer beer is ended or ending and Octoberfest beer is already rolling in. Makes summer feel a month shorter!

Remember Octoberfest in Germany is actually the middle of sept to the begin I g of October so it's only coming out a month early. That may have something to do with it. If you wait till after Labor Day they may not be able to capitalize off their investment.

Have had a German visitor in the house for the last 2 weeks. He's pretty annoyed with the domestic summer offerings. We're placating him with Pilsner Urquell, Spaten Oktoberfest, Becks, Stella Artois, & Heineken.

In the south summer is shorter. Kids are back to school 2-4 weeks earlier down here than back north. The perception of when fall begins is quite different from north to south because of it. Once the kids go back to school it is fall, doesn't matter if it is August 12 or September 12.

Bring on the fall beers and football come mid August. I will just crank up the A/C, ask my wife to make a pot of soup and pretend it isn't 92 and humid outside. It works just fine.

In my experience there is nothing more insufferable than a whiny German telling me how everything is better in Germany in that blood thirsty accent.
