HOF response right here! You nailed it. I don't doubt that Adia can get SMU back to the postseason conversation, but she's convinced that she can throw money at the "problem" when a significant part of the "problem" is her. Self awareness isn't a strong suit, apparently. I'm interested in seeing how she puts together her staff because that will let me know if she's got what it takes to win in the ACC (I was underwhelmed by her responses regarding SMU's potential in the ACC). I like to use UVA versus Virginia Tech when speaking on the importance of staff composition. UVA hired its current coach in 2022 from Missouri State. She brought her entire staff to UVA and has made few changes since then. The result? A record that's barely over 0.500 (48-46 in three seasons)--zero seasons with an ACC record of 0.500. By contrast, Virginia Tech hired its current coach in 2024 from Marquette. She hired three assistants with significant ACC ties (only one of them spent one season with her at Marquette). The result? A 0.500 ACC record and a spot on the NCAA bubble in a season where the team was supposed to be an abomination thanks to Kenny Brooks' antics. I'll be following SMU to see which path will be taken by the former Arizona HC.
