Any predictions? I'm feeling like we'll be around #13. Just for fun, I did some maths, and over the last 15 seasons (aka the UConn era), the reigning national champs have had a median preseason ranking of #4, with 8/15 teams being top 5, 11/15 teams being top 10, and 13/15 teams being in the top 25, with the two exceptions being Florida in 2007 and UNC in 2005. The three prior UConn national championship teams were ranked #1, #7, and #4 the following preseason.

Most sites seem to have us between 15-20. I almost rather it be around 20 to give the guys some locker room material going into the season.

Think it'll be 20-25. Didn't Kentucky get 1 vote for #1 in the coaches poll at the end of last year, or was that the AP?

16. Can't lose the best all around player in the country and close to 70% of your minutes (with all that experience) and sniff the top 5 to start the year. BUT...It ain't where you start. It's where you finish. UConn should get at worst a 4 seed going into the Tournament and a 2 seed is certainly in play.

Seriously when will the world learn to stop bothering with giving Gonzaga any degree of hype? Calling it now, they won't make it past the Sweet Sixteen unless by some miracle they end up against a 15 seed or something

completely missing the boat on unc. they lose to a niang-less isu team, but are top 6 in the country? still no shooting anywhere.

What's new? This is the 3rd year in a row they have been very overrated to start the season.

So 13 might be about right for a sweet 16 team then

While I tend to agree, Gonzaga may actually have their best collection of talent they've ever assembled this year. They've got great size and are laden with upperclassmen. I'm excited to see their 7-1, 290 pound center Przemek Karnowski, who averaged 10/7 and nearly 2 blocks last year as a sophomore.

Though again, like most Gonzaga teams, the WCC simply doesn't do enough to prepare them for the NCAA tournament. Mark Few is a nice coach, but he's no Kevin Ollie.

For our AAC brethren, Memphis is also receiving votes.

I should know better than to compare the AAC to the BE but I find it surprising to see a PC team that lost a lot of talent as the 2nd highest ranked team out of the BE than Villanova. PC got 5 votes and looks to be ranked about 40th or so. That is a big fall in perception for that conference. I'm not that impressed with Villanova either, to tell the truth. Only Georgetown seems to be bringing in the top talent that will make a national impact. But they have fewer votes than PC. And Creighton and Butler seem to be in a world of hurt right now.

I see Xavier as our AAC's Temple. Good coaching always makes them from formidable to middling. Cincy is a wildcard for the AAC, and Memphis is loaded but with so many new players.

I have to wonder why ESPN considers the BE a better conference (which is my perception of the order in which they decided to do their conference rundowns). MWC went first, then AAC and then BE before moving on to the P5.
