Stanford has five freshmen on its roster. Four saw playing time against BC, including starting forward Kailee Johnson.
“Our returners really did very well for us,” VanDerveer said. “And our freshmen were a lot of deer in the headlights. So we need our freshmen to really come up to speed quickly. But I think Boston College and playing here, they made some good runs. We started off very poorly. We made some nice runs, getting out in transitions. We had people really struggling from the free throw line, and we had a lot of free throws but overall I think our team will learn a lot from our first game, and we got to get better fast.”

OMG!!!......Wait until their freshmen get a load of Gampel, Sold-out crowd and National TV....

Jsloanjr if they saw deer in the headlights against BC they wont see anything Monday night. OMG is right. I have a feeling this game will be over before it starts and when it starts it will be a nitemare.

TV is a very honest and open coach and she might know that now is not a good time to play UCONN especially at Gampel or anywhere...........

Should be interesting although there are still many seats still available after checking UConn website. Probably at least a thousand. Hopefully will sell out by game time.

I am expecting an early UConn KO of Stanford. It might be better for the Cardinal to fly under the radar while their freshmen get some experience.

TV will shorten her bench, and the freshman won't play as much. Even though I think Uconn will win, Stanford is still a top ten team that even Geno hopes poses some challenges for Uconn.
