Coach mike Nardi talking with press

I am on the fence with this hire
It's not that I don't think that he can be an effective coach but it's just so weird that UConn would reach out to another NBE team for an AC - especially Nova and especially this guy. He was one of those players you loved to dislike when he was playing.
Just strange.

You realize we hired Danny Hurley as our head coach, right?

While he was at Nova, he was the type of player who was extremely loyal to his team and did everything to beat the team he was playing against. Given that, it's understandable how you feel about him,. But is he any different than Cam Spencer?

If we had played Rutgers in 2022-2023 we would have all hated Cam. But when he came to UConn he brought that same fierce loyalty, dedication, cockiness, and willingness to do anything for the team to win attitude. Hiring Nardi, we're getting that same level of buy-in as Cam. I'm totally on-board with the hire.

Nardi grew up in NJ and played at st Anthony rival school. For some reason I get the feeling from Dan Hurley that he kind of likes where he grew up. But I can't be sure............ He rarely talks about Jersey City.
Thats because he talks up UConn so much! I lived in New Jersey for 25 years and went to a lot of St. Pats and St Ants games. Saw a lot of kids from those schools go D1 and always wondered why UConn never got one of them. Most thought that JC and Bob Sr. didn't like each other.

I thought it was kind of established JC and Bob Sr. Didn’t? Seems there’s only room for one completely maniacal Irish basketball coach in every room.

If I recall correctly Hurley Senior didn't like that players of his didn't get attention from Calhoun early on and thereafter held a grudge.

Let's not forget that Kimani started out as a team manager and video coordinator at St. Johns. That seemed to work out okay.
