Nice move by the Noles. Wow, 5 concussions by the age of 18.

Very nice gesture. Question.....will this kid count toward the 85 limit even if he's not a member of the team?

If my memory serves correct there's a waiver for schools to keep an injured/unable to perform player on scholarship and not count against the 85.

I'm pretty sure Joe Akers kept his full ride after his freshman year career-ending injury. But good to see from FSU.

Nice story, I'd bet this is not an athletic scholarship but an academic scholarship so it won't count against the limit.

Most schools do have the ability to keep kids on scholarship when medical situations happen like this and it goes against the AD and not the football team. I am sure it was part goodwill and part avoidance of a negative PR issue, but they had no obligation to do this for a verbal committ and it is a stand up move by them.

That is correct. It's an athletic scholarship that will not count against the limit.
