CIAC State Football playoffs

Playoffs begin on Tuesday, and even though the UConn coaching staff is focused on a bowl invite, I’m sure they will be scouting some games.

Thanks Medic, I read the article online through the New Haven Register, then copied and pasted it, but after doing that I noticed that Gametime’s controls had changed it to another sport Lol, after the 5 min edit time had expired.

Trumbull upsets #1 Southington. Nice to see my old high school win a playoff game for the first time in 12 years.

It was an upset laden first round. Greenwich was the only higher seed to win in LL. Both the #1 & #2 seeds fell in class L. Killingly was the only higher seed to win in MM. Classes M & S held to form, while only the #1 seed (Cromwell) managed to advance in SS.

Help me out it’s been 20 years since leaving Bunnell HS

How do the classifications work?

How many students allowed in each?

It moves year-to-year, based on overall boys-only (for football) enrollment numbers. # of schools on right.

Class LL (756 and over/23)
Class L (611-755/24)
Class MM (513-610/23)
Class M (409-512/23)
Class SS (344-408/22)
Class S (Up to 343/23)

48 schools in each division by enrollment.

Don't sleep on Wilton in MM. Smaller FCIAC teams tend to shine in the States when they have a team from a lower class because they spend the season in the strongest league playing larger schools.

Only the CIAC computer thought those MM games were upsets.

Wish I could have laid some $$ in on the Warriors...

Wilton beat some team i had never heard of .... Sport and Medical Sciences Academy in Hartford (were previously undefeated)

It's that school right next to 91 just south of Hartford. You can see the stadium from the highway. It's built right next to the colt factory.

Yep. The historical aggregate tech school score is something absurd. They never win. It's never close.
They should have a choice. Stay in the CTC and be ineligible for the playoffs, or leave the CTC and join a conference.

Immaculate was in the SWC forever. They lost enrollment numbers after the 2008 recession, couldn't win more than 1-2 games per year, left the league to join with abbot tech and now they make the playoffs almost every year and always get destroyed. They shouldnt be rewarded with a playoff spot for having to leave a conference because they couldn't compete.

I called that. I wish I had $500 for every year over the last 20 that an FCIAC squad beat a highly ranked Southington squad in the playoffs.
