We passed the eye test, size, speed and strength against Virginia - but our offensive execution is really poor. I also think our schemes are not creative.

We won and the kids celebrated liked they won the Super Bowl. So I was happy to see them have fun and feel good about themselves. But, objectively the offense really needs an overhaul. Let's not be in denial about that.

The kickers are pretty good - the return teams must be terrible since we don't use them. I agree since we make no attempt to block anyone on returns and we fair catch passed the 20 and let it roll inside the 20 - we should use two returners to have better fair catch angles.

The one touchdown we did score it almost looked liked Diaco was trying to call a timeout.

Plenty of receivers were opened - BS spends most of his pocket time with his head down looking to find a hole to run through. He's a decent head down fullback - but the kid is not a QB.

Our defense was solid but I wish we would blitz more.

Other than about BS, I agree with all of that

BS has to get the ball out of his hands and cut way down on the running. He took a lot of hits again today and looked very slow to get up on a few occasions.

Chief, all good stuff but BS is looking for holes bcuz he's running for his life most of the time! This Swiss cheese Oline can't sustain a GD block for longer than 1 second if their lives depended on it! Let's be honest here, this offensive line is not good at all! We can try to pur positive spin on it all day long but it is what it is. Many of his passes were rushed bcuz he HAD to get them off "now!" Or risk another hit.

You're right! The Oline needs to start doing their job!

Don't give RJ a pass - he whiffed on more than a couple of pick-ups, but yeah, saw Levy with hands-on-hips after a lot of plays.

I was sitting in the second row today. You can see the panic in BS eyes bcuz he KNOWS it's only a matter of time b4 the pocket collapses and he either needs to hit a hole quick or get crushed!

There were a few plays where he rolled out, had multiple opportunities to throw, and never did. A few other times he had no business throwing, and did. Maybe he just needs better judgement, but I'm not sure if it isn't too late for that now. I think one needs to be born with that. He wasn't.

totally agree with you and I honestly think that his lack of consistency is a direct result of how much time the line gives him. One play he has several seconds, most he does not. It's tough to get that consistent read on the receivers and be able to put that touch needed to hit them when the amount of time you have to execute changes with every snap! The guy next to me today in fact said he would like to see what BS could do behind a good OL. I would like to see it too!!

It is time to replace Levy with a younger player who is more mobile and tougher. The Shirreffs roll out passes were all failures. Keep him in the pocket. It was painful to watch the student section melt away out of boredom. Diaco, "Somebody better tell em" that if he does not run an offense that resembles what we see on the rest of the teams in the American, he will be looking for another job.

So if he installs a more "entertaining offense like the other American teams" but doesn't win games....you're happy?

I'll take boring offense and a win every day and twice on Sunday

I am afraid your last line is telling. I do agree for all the props Balis gets and the OL size - it's a legitimate question - how do you square that with the blocking efficiency?
But It's tough blocking multiple guys when you are so predictable.

What BS needs to do is take a measured number of steps back and release the ball on quick hitters. The downside to that is while he is well built he is pretty short and really struggles with vision in the pocket. But, other shorter QB's somehow pull it off - he needs to at least try that.

While part of BS problem is his lack of height, the bigger issue is he frankly makes no attempt when he does have time to go through his progressions. He just locks on one receiver and the coverage doesn't matter.

How many of his runs were meant to be passes in the OC's mind? Or in BS mind meant to be passes? There may be a difference there in terms of commitment to the initial play?

Diaco says the team has a running identity but given that the OL should fire aggressively off the line of scrimmage and they don't. Everyone is running downhill in a good running team - and I quite frankly don't see that.
