I normally get the Briefs out the night of the game - but this time I wanted to sit back and let others posts their ideas. - We have a real problem with 6-5 guys shooting threes over our undersize guards. We know about the communication issues that leave guys wide open and the lack of focus for the entire shot clock - both of which we can theoretically fix. What we can’t fix is 5-8 or 6-0 not giving a 6-5 guy a clean look. - There was a major change in our press. Against Colgate we had Polley and Larrier in front of the press. Last night it was the guards who were in front on the press. To my point last week using forwards in front creates size mismatches unfavorable to the defense since the forwards have to transition from guarding guards in the press to forwards in the half court and if that transition doesn’t work well - guards are left still guarding forwards. Looks like Coach Chill heard Chief or recognized it himself and made the adjustment. - I like Big Dave - best screens I have seen since Jake. What makes it even better is that he takes pride in it and enjoys the contact. - Larrier and Adams need to stay out of foul trouble this season. They really need to play smart. We score so much better with both of them out there. - Cobb handles the ball well for his size but he isn’t Magic and shouldn’t be taking the ball upcourt as a PG would. That will produce turnovers and bad offense. Other than that I like his offense and rebounding. - This is obvious but is worth repeating - we need to get guys in the gym on their own time to improve their shooting. - True, we used to beat teams like Stony Brook by 25-30 points but I enjoyed our comeback. Hopefully that will motivate us but like Jalen said against the good teams we can’t dig these holes.
