A timely and solid win!

Good to see a lineup change to start the second half. Once again we started the game with our starting center (Reed) on the bench and that quickly created a major deficit yet again, that needed to be overcome.

Impressed with 18-20 from FT (90%), what we will need post season. The officiating was sound and consistent.

We had a significant margin in assists and rebounds, a trademark of many UConn win, especially if we don’t go crazy with turnovers.

Nothing would thrill me more not to have to say this after every game. Yet, despite clear evidence to the the countrary we repeat this mistake every game. As a starter, Reed would be a consistent double /double guy and he is doing a better job in recent games of avoiding foolish fouls. Tonight Reed had 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Besides Reed’s and other points in the paint, Ball and McNeeley are the guys who shot with confidence from 3. They shot 5-9 and the rest of the team 0-4 from 3 in the first half.

I was impressed with Nowell’s low and tight dribble and the body to protect the Big East reach ins and grabbing. He may be earning some minutes on a skillset we need more depth at.

We shot 58% from FG and that makes the game easier. But, we haven’t learned to make our opponents hanging out at the 3 line uncomfortable by denying the ball and making them move their feet and lose their concentration. Way too many comfortable 3’s.
Very pleased with Diarra’s contribution, he did it all with points, assists and rebounds. His defense was very intense especially in the second half. He drove to the basket under control and finished.

Needed this type of game. The Peavy kid is impressive. Good things happen when you feed Reed!

Hass looks to be hesitant to shoot the 3 this year, when it was a big asset off the bench last year. Wonder why?

Last year Hassan shot it from the corner but being our primary and some would argue only ball handler - he is not on that spot to receive a pass for a three attempt.
I agree, 100% good things happen when you feed Reed. He can be a man amongst boys in the paint - if our offensive and defensive schemes put him there.

Everyone is a traffic cone on defense and Reed’s high hedges are terrible, leading to almost 80 points on 52% FG and 40% 3P from Georgetown

Tonight it didn’t matter because the offense was clicking, and it was clicking because of Tarris Reed. No Sorber and Fielder in foul trouble means that UConn could win the game if they decided to do one thing and one thing only - attack the rim. Tarris attacked it relentlessly and opened up several good looks for everyone including his own 20pt game

Not super encouraged by letting Sorber-less Georgetown run an offensive clinic on us, but I’ll enjoy any game where we score 94 points

When seen through blue color glasses. It is all good when you win. Unfortunately, for GT, some tough calls benched, then took out their 2nd string center, who was not too bad offensively, considering. The officiating was to our benefit tonight, and we take it, because this is a rare occasion this year.

It was clear 2 months ago that Reed should replace Samson in the starting lineup and Nowell should replace Mahaney in the rotation. Better late than never I guess
I agree and that’s why some say I repeated the same stuff every game. Well, it was because we did not make necessary changes.

Another thing I been saying that’s been criticized by our beloved Casual Fans is the XL is a better home court advantage than Gampel in big games. The CT Insider says we are undefeated at XL for 2 years while we lost 2 games at Gampel this year. Sure a tougher home schedule at Gampel but it’s clear we play better at XL.

Start Read and play him as many minutes as he can
Drop the damn hedge - costs the team a dozen points a game at minimum
Try to get Stewie a bit more involved in the offense
Being it looks like Ball can hit a few layups, clear some lanes for and look for him on his cuts to the hoops
TEACH BASIC DEFENSIVE SKILLS
on to the next match.........................................

I thought the crowd was pretty flat to start the game. The late arriving fans didn’t help. It seems like people want to get behind the team, but they were waiting for something bad to happen. There seemed to be a pressure relief when UConn got up by 10 in the second half.

I decided to see what casual fans were missing so kept my eye on high hedges. Was surprised at how poorly it worked. Drives, open 3's and offensive rebounds. It was astoundingly bad. If you high hedge need to do it like Houston or don't do it. Big, big error in coaching.

From the broadcast, the lower bowl looked pretty empty early on. I'm sure the 6:30 start didn't help.

A dozen points a game? To say the least that is quite an exaggeration.

Is the last loss at XL the St Johns debacle of 2023?
