- not many people mentioning it here but I thought AG was fantastic. Knocked down threes, drove well, made his free throws and played very good ball hawking defense. Definitely one of his better games.
-Jalen hit some huge shots and played very well
-Sid was a freak- dude trying to block everything. Love it. That bank put back and 1 was huge
-Carlton , Cobb and polley were serviceable last night. Especially Carlton
- still don’t kno what hurley sees in Tarin smith - awful free throw shooter for a guard.
- Vital was okay in my opinion. Only a couple turnovers Had a couple big threes but missed some open ones.
- bottom line: Gilbert starting to assert himself and Wilson starting to become a solid factor in games.
- happy cincy won vs Tulsa cuz no way I’d want to face them after a loss

Agree on AG - he is getting better and better. Mix talent in with competitor toughness, brains and coachability - and this is the product you get. A lesson here for all. Maybe Jalen is starting to see how that can work?

I kno. Forgot to mention he got hit hard a couple times and bounced back up , splashed his free throws. He’s been my guy for a long time. Even tho we ve only seen glimpses. He’s gonna be special.

And he's still in one piece ! Good to know he's healthy.

Btw, what happened to Jalen's arm toward the end ? He looked to be in pain and then several minutes later was back in.

Out last night and taped the game but based on the results and board comments we're back on the bubble right?

Chief, any thoughts on the charge our coach drew on the sidelines agianst our own player? Thought Danny had his feet firmly in place, although the flop was a bit over dramatic. Gotta love how he continues to lead by example.
If it was football, it would have been an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for a late hit.

When Gilbert hit the floor last night you could hear the thud and I was sitting behind the basket at the other end. He landed HARD...
There was definitely a collective gasp by the crowd in the building..

Tough kid..

He also looked like he hurt his ankle at the end of the first half slipping on that stupid logo.

SMU is not one of the tougher AAC opponents. Not as strong up front. I am looking forward to Cincinnati, Houston, Temple, Memphis, Tulsa and Wichita State. But I do hope this can be the start of something. Overall, glad we won!
They may not be tough but they are one of the better teams

Quick prediction - With respect and empathy for Yakwe - who always played hard - we are going to see a bit of addition by subtraction overall on defense and offense by substituting Whaley in for his minutes.

Whaley is a specialist, but he is VERY GOOD at what he does well. He plays excellent positional defense, always contests on the ball, and has the length and bounce to effect shots from the weak side. On offense he is agile enough that he can both set great screens, dive to the rim well, and can be pesky on the boards and can finish better than Yakwe, who just didn't have a good record with that.

With all due respect, you need to get your eyes checked if you think Whaley is better offensively than Yakwe from watching in-game performance. And Yakwe had progressed to serviceable (at best) before his injury.

Whatever man. Whaley at least doesn't do a reverse pivot pirouette to his left hand so he can miss a half hook by 36 inches or get stripped to start a fast break every time.

Stopped at the old gas and sip.

The townies not impressed with the win. Don’t move the ball as well as the women.

In case you were wondering if living in Eastern Connecticut is a sports fan’s dystopia. It is.
Bah, you are barely in Eastern CT. In any event, let me guess, everyone at the gas and sip were octogenarians?

One guy was old. One guy wasn’t.

And based on the number of Confederate flags it’s eastern enough.

Well Jalen playing well makes a massive difference. We mixed up our looks and played intelligently in the first half - all things we just haven't seen in the last stretch of games.

I mean we don't rebound well - but I just don't expect that to improve much if at all this year. We just don't have that kind of ammo unfortunately.

The follow on from this to the other guys is critical. Elevates everyone.

There will be little to no improvement in rebounding this year. Expect maybe for Sid as he gets more comfortable. He's got the toughness (despite his frame) and aggressiveness (when he wants) to make that so.

I would like to see Hurley employ the 2014 style of rebounding. Have our woeful bigs box 'in', so that the boards can be collected by our quicker guards. Gilbert, Vital, Tarin, and even Jalen could scoop up a ton of those boards.

Liked Whaley a lot last nite. Open a lot on the roll but never gets the ball. Don't think UC ever gives it to the roll man. Maybe we should teach a better pick and roll and see the roll man once in a while. Pick and roll is the best offensive weapon when used right.
