My take away from the game is that it is confirmation that generally/like almost always/ UConn plays the game at a very high level, while making it look easy. It is not easy. So a fine tuned engine got a little out of whack and it showed quite a bit. So have a greater appreciation for when UConn is humming along and do not take excellence for granted. The kids and staff bust their butts every day to bring that excellence to us.

If five more 3s drop, we win by 48, there are five more assists, all is well. Sheesh. Chicken Little for sure.

The weird thing was the rust didn't show up til 10 or so minutes into the game. The first 8-10 minutes were pretty good.

Consider any changes made at that point?

Well considering at that point the only starter left out there was Dolson.

I don't think that fans are really playing Chicken Little here. When you're a fan of a team as good as ours is, and when you've grown accustomed to unrelentingly lopsided victories, there's a natural tendency to pick out any flaws that result in a failure to achieve as perfect an outcome as that for which we might wish. Rust is probably a factor, as well as the old, but accurate cliché that good teams often do not play at their best level against weaker competition. So Stewie and KML had so-so shooting nights....is anyone really worried about them? Bria and MoJeff played extremely well. Defense, as always, played mostly soundly and aggressively. My only complaint about our offense is that I think we take the quick three opportunity when we have an open look a bit too frequently, whereas the offensive flow almost always is better when we're more patient, and especially when we work the ball in to Stef....something I wish we did a lot more.

I watched the game on TV and then had a little chicken for supper, with slaw and lentil salad on the side and a glass of Pinot Grigio. Both were very tasty (the 33-point victory and the supper).

Hard to argue with that.

We are a spoiled bunch if we think that a 33 pt victory after Xmas layoff is something to worry about. Personally, I liked MoJet's performance. That young lady is going to only get better and that is scary for the opponents.

Human performance in any motor task(s)(e.g. athletics) is/are subject to periodic variance, both physical and psychological. Parents, coaches, fans, indeed the athletes themselves, do well to understand this, and keep the critique in context. It is significant and substantiated patterns that need to be addressed. One game with Cincinnati does not qualify as a pattern.
Or so I think

You do know that UConn's winning margin just dropped from 37.8 to 37.3, don't you? If that is not proof that the sky is falling, what is? You really shouldn't have to wait for the team to lose four or five games in a row for clear-cut evidence that ChickLit was right.

-----Actually, just noticed that UConn moved up from 7th to 4th in FG% defense in the national rankings, so maybe the sky is rising.

Stewie had a bad shooting night, 12 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 blocks in 28 minutes, and they held Cincinnati to 34 points. UConn didn't shoot well and almost doubled the opposition 67-34. They still played well on defense, which will bail you out when the shots aren't falling.

You mean KML out with foul trouble?

She needs to work on being smarter about fouling. We can afford her making a habit of getting into foul trouble.

Combination of rust and general mental approach...........I don't think the team/or coach wanted to embarrass a former alum and UConn player. Geno pulled the dogs off early and often. Thus, the usual killer instinct wasn't at its normal level.
exactly what I think... Geno was practicing some stuff and also allowing Jamelle to see and run some stuff.

After yesterday's game, some here seem to need this thread. Post away...

OK, if you can name the opposing coach you have the reason for the lack of killer instinct on our part. Press? Done in about 6 minutes. Starters? Revolving doors from the scorers table. End of the game? Hugs for JJ from all the coaches and team.
