So, 38 of you had them losing already. Anyone have the guts to admit they were wrong and that they're a lousy turncoat weasel?

I have them winning my bracket. Why wouldn't I?

I hate when people calls themselves realists. You want reality? It has been proven, without any doubt, that encouragement and belief from outside sources increases performance and chance of success. So even if you "believe' they won't win it all you'd be doing them a favor by saying you think they will.

Plus, we should never side with Jeff Goodman. On anything.

I really think we need to create some kind of AI bot to collect the worst takes in the chat and publically shame posters.
I don't know, the chat is the chat. It's a repository for hot takes while the emotions of watching the game are wild.

On the other hand, I think posts to the main board are fair game. That's pretty much what the hangings used to be. Apparently, the powers that be no longer support that though.

Good to see that you abandoned your game day negativity before the UCLA game. Always enjoy your metamorphosis once the team is successful in the postseason. Climb back on board Deep. There's plenty of room, even for the bandwagon fans.

My bracket every year has them winning it all since 1990. Been right 6 times. 17% of the time I am right. If u take out years they weren't in it, it's 23%. That's better than prognosticators on ESPN et al I am sure.
Picking Connecticut has won a lot of pools for me over the years, especially early on.

No metamorphosis here. Just enjoying the tourney. I guess making up the hanging crap every March and carrying it singlehandedly for 25 straight years wasn't enough for you. Sorry?

Not sure why anyone would visit the chat when you could just ask a friend to water board you.
I’ll admit I have them losing in the final 4

I either had us losing Elite 8 or Final 4, but I’ll fully own it when we’re celebrating our 7th title after knocking out Izzo, Pitino, Sampson and AZ or Mich consecutively

I would NEVER predict us to lose a game. True story about 1999. I had us beating Duke 75-74 in the final. Khalid goes to the line with 5.2 seconds to go score is 75-74 I was there sitting my brother and told him about the pool. I said screw the pool, make the free throws. The rest is history. I cried like a baby. Plus I won the pool. It had 80 participants. Won 2 grand. What a night!!!!
Every pool I enter has us winning

I picked them in my bracket too. We all know that if we play well and shoot even average, we will survive most games. It takes a real clunker for this team to lose most nights.

I'll admit, I picked us to lose last night. I still have some Husky basketball PTSD from the baffling losses the last few weeks. That being said, I think I picked the Huskies to win the tournament any time they were in it from 1989 to 1998. In 1999, I began to think my picking them was THE problem and picked someone else (not Duke). It's been superstition for me to be overly negative about them in my bracket ever since.

Yeah, I'm kind of in and out of it myself. I'll pop in and post something after a big play. I feel like 90% of the posts aren't read. You pop in and say something and then go back to watching the game.

Lol, newsflash...

And anyway, we're out of the first weekend and you're back on the bandwagon. Life's good, right?

Yeah. Your act is tired, uninteresting and not entertaining. Ignore.

‘Yarders are really great when they’re making good points… but when they’re not hitting, not so great.

True. I think the issue with some of the takes on the board is that some posters mistake being ALLOWED to be way too negative or hard on players, with indemnity from pushback from other posters.

It happens in the real world too. Some people offer an unprovoked scathing opinion but are surprised when every one in the room gangs up on them and stops inviting them to parties. Because THAT is fair game too.

Yeah, you definitely do see that people becoming angry when people disagree with their hot take. They get their panties in a bunch because they "have a right to say their opinion" but disregard the fact that everyone else does too.

My personal favorite is when people cite the first amendment as why they should receive immunity from criticism. That's pretty comical.

I use it to cheat and see what’s happening during stressful moments as it seems my feed is at least 1 minute behind everyone else. I actually look quickly to see if it’s good or bad news.

When I see AAAAAKKKKKK! I know he nailed a 3 and look forward to watching it happen.

I can say this now after reading the etiquette thread, knowing now I’m not the only one with issues.

Chat GPT Worst Takes

1. The "Fire Hurley" Faction (Post-New Mexico State Loss, 2022)

After UConn lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament for the second year in a row, the "Fire Hurley" sentiment reached a fever pitch.

  • The Take: "Hurley is a mid-major coach who creates a toxic culture and can’t coach offense. He's a failure who will never win a tournament game at UConn."
  • Who said it: This was led by a group of posters often referred to as the "Doom and Gloomers." While many individual names are now mocked in "Checking Receipts" threads, posters like "UConn88" and "TheBigDog" (and several others who have since gone quiet) were vocal critics during this stretch.
  • The Receipt: Hurley went on to win the next 12 NCAA tournament games by double digits, securing back-to-back titles.

2. The Alex Karaban "Too Slow" Skeptics

When Alex Karaban committed, he was not the flashy five-star recruit many Boneyarders craved.

  • The Take: "Karaban is a 'system' player who is too slow to guard Big East wings. He’ll be a liability on defense and a bench-warmer by his sophomore year."
  • Who said it: This was a common sentiment among the "Star-Chasers" on the board—users who only value Top-20 recruits. Several posters during the 2022-23 preseason argued he shouldn't even start over more "athletic" options.
  • The Receipt: Karaban became the "brains" of the back-to-back championship runs, hitting some of the most clutch shots in program history and proving to be an elite team defender.
