Who would have thought at the beginning of the year that both Kentucky and Syracuse would host games.
Wonder what the attendance will be like in Syracuse if they host?
The BIG 4 teams in WCBB this year have maintained their dominance the entire year. Don't look for any surprises between now and the tournament selection show. UConn, Notre Dame, South Carolina and Baylor will win their conference tournaments, and will be a 1 seed in their respective regions. All 4 teams dominated their respective conferences this year, so don't look for any upsets.
The battle for 2 seeds will be a real knock-down drag out. As Cream's article mentioned, the fight for 2 seeds will be ferocious. Those teams that lose out on a two seed can be assigned as a 3 seed in a region that is not necessarily a good fit for them. An assignment that could mean traveling across the country and several time zones. Maryland was a #1 seed last year. A #1 seed for them this year is out of the question. They should have no problem securing a 2 seed as Cream predicts.
I can't wait for the selection show to air on Monday, March 14 (7 p.m. ET on ESPN), so that we can see this year's brackets. You can bet there will be some surprises, and some disappointments.
The same teams as usual will round out the top 3 seeds in the tournament. The second weekend's games should be interesting as the competition and play will be intense, as all of the lower seed bubble teams and mid-major team participants invited via winning their conferences will have been eliminated.
Inclusion in the "sweet 16" will be every team's focus. I agree with the general consensus that all of the 1 seeds should make the final four, unless a dark horse emerges and crashes the party. If any upsets occur, it will be in the regional finals.
