Not sure I agree unless the win the SEC Tournament. Even then I have my doubts. I would strongly consider Duke, Maryland and Miami over the Lady Vols. The winner of the ACC will get a 2 seed, but would consider another ACC team over the Lady Vols.

Lot of basketball to be played. I'd assume two ACC teams will get a #2, plus probably Kentucky/Tennessee (assuming one of them wins the SEC tourney, which is not a given), and one of Penn State, Delaware, or a third ACC team.

If Tennessee doesn't beat Florida (who is capable of the upset, BTW), AND win the SEC tourney, they will not be a #2.

If Penn State was to win out meaning Sunday against Minnesota and then the Big Ten tourney and do so with solid performances it would be hard to deny them a #2 even if it was the #8 position on the S-curve.

Yes, but will they meet Michigan State in the Big Ten tourney? The Spartans have beaten PSU twice this year.

Yes, MSU has been the touch out for the Lady Lions this year. Beating a good team three times is tough, however.

MSU would now be the third seed in the Big Ten tourney meaning they and PSU would not meet until the finals. 1/4 and 2/3.

For the WNIT? :D
i know that was tongue-in-cheek, but the year tenneess was ousted in the first round by Ball State, they were a 5 seed and entered the NCAA's with 10 losses. they currently have 8, and 4 of those are to unranked teams. i don't know what the RPI shows, or whatever, but i can't believe anyone gives them a 2 seed. even if the win the SEC, i think there are more deserving teams.

Yeah, this Tennessee team looks more like the team of 3 years ago that lost in round 1 than it does like the 10-loss team with Holdsclaw that won the championship. They have talent but are very erratic. Their defense is suspect, which is unusual for Tennessee. Combine that with erratic shooting, limited playmaking, and possible chemistry issues and you get an early end to the season.

where is Charlie Creme from ?

Teams better than Tennessee on a neutral court

Bayor
Stanford
ND
UConn
Duke
Miami
Kentucky
Deleware
Ohio State
Texas A&M

And I bet St. Johns would beat them as well.

3 seed.

Which explains why the Bonnie are ranked so high and Temple isn't :-)

Indeed, the 1997 season shouldn't even be mentioned in conjuncton with this incarnation of the LVs:

  • Chamique Holdsclaw may have been a part of all of those losses, but she was a transcendently great talent at the college level. This LV team does not have anyone like that.
  • Kelly Jollie was a big piece of the puzzle for that team, and she came back late after an injury sidelined her for much of the 1997 season. Although the LVs have been banged up, all 11 have been playing of late. And Taber Spani, who is the one player who can be a lot better than she's been playing when fully healthy, simply doesn't look like she's going to be healthy this season. Her shot, her movement, and physical conditioning, just aren't there right now.
  • Pat Summitt was terrific at getting her teams to play at their best at the business end of seasons. Suffice it to say this team could really use Pat Summitt circa 1997, and that, sadly, they do not have her.

trying to remember the sports writer who didn't vote DT all-american in her best season I think 2004 and he was from the south
anyone know ?

I agree totally. I think some of the misguided LV fans are thinking that what happened in 1997 can happen again this year. I have just 2 words for them: Ball State.
