Charde to the Mercury

Without knowing the details of this trade, I like this move a lot for Phoenix.

Charde got squeezed out of Minnesota's rotation last season with the return of a healthy Augustus and the addition of Maya. She'll be a really good fit as a bench player playing an uptempo brand of ball.

Plus, her lack of defense will fit right in with Phoenix's system.;)

Seems she would excel in a more wide open system.

Diana is going to make her look good, real good

that seems to be great news for her. the only place potentially i could see better would be Tulsa, since they are so bad, it's possible she'd get more PT there. of course, Tulsa did come on strong at the end of the year so maybe they aren't quite as bad "at this point" as they were when they were something like 2-20...

I agree with you guys. Charde can be a scoring machine. She should fit in that offense, and playing with Dee should help her. She will need to run more than ever. And she's close to home. Best wishes, Charde.

Great move for Charde and the Mercury. She'll definitely contribute, especially in the absence of Penny Taylor.

It will be interesting to hear Cam's reactions to the news.

Except Penny Taylor may be playing. She may not follow her Opals teammates.

Oh ok. I admit I haven't followed that situation very closely. Is she leaning in any direction or just undecided?

As for my thoughts, it is a good trade. First, we gave up very little and still got a second round pick in return.

Second, Charde fills a position of need. She is best as a starter on a bad team or a bench player on a good one. Her offensive skillset is such that she will provide much needed scoring in the paint from the bench, while allowing Bonner to roam the perimeter.

Plus, with Charde's versatility (worked on her outside shot), she and Bonner can invert positions when need be to take advantage of matchups.

Taylor, as of now, may be playing in Phoenix this year. So this post presupposes Taylor playing and Sanford starting at center.

If Taylor is not playing, I would not mind seeing a lineup of Taurasi/Bonner/Houston/Dupree on the floor. Small in the post, big on the wing. Lots of shooting range and versatility there. But it will require great chemistry and rebounding to overcome opposing teams' post players.

Right now, leaning toward playing in Phoenix, but that could change.
