Going to keep old format of Huskies vs. Huskies

The game will be played at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Aug. 8 at 7:30 p.m.. The decision was made this past week to stay with the usual format, and have teams of former Huskies play one another. There had been plans to have a UConn team play alumni from other schools.

“With players from four national championship teams available – the traditional game format is back,” said Peter Gold, spokesman for the event.

I'm glad they kept the old format as that means more Huskies players.

The only way it would be better if it were UConn Alumni vs another team's alumni (Dook, UNC, Cuse, Gtown, etc...)

I could care less about seeing other schools' alumni. Love that we'll see some players from the 2014 championship.

Made my day - initially I had thought that the reason for one UConn team was not enough commitments from alumni to come. I remember last year Bazz was courtside and I got his autograph in my 2011 champs book, now its time for him to sign my 2014 champs book!

Seriously, how many other schools could make this claim? And actually have players from all four teams be competitive? Maybe Duke, I guess; that's about it.

Coming off the title run, there's no need to celebrate with players outside our program. It's simply an exhibition game, & an opportunity to view multiple eras of UConn greats!

No reason not to. One of the things I'll always remember about KO, in the first one of these games (2002), he was treating it full on serious in the second quarter. Guarding people hard, getting upset at mistakes, etc. He wasn't wired to back down ever - even in a fun little exhibition two months before training camp.

The fact that they gave less than one day notice of the tickets going on sale sucks!! Just bought two tickets, but only lower level seats left are in the corners. If anyone is selling two lower level sideline seats, please let me now.
