CFB overtime rules have changed again. Beginning next season, teams will be required to go for two beginning in double-overtime.

Fine with the first part. Turning the game into an extra point contest in 3OT is a bit of a joke.

1OT - Regular FB from the 25.
2OT - Regular FB from the 25 w/ 2pt conversion mandatory
3OT and beyond - Sudden Death 2pt conversion contest with teams alternating plays.

I don't see how this shortens games all that much.

Agreed. The NFL overtime sudden death format has been and remains ridiculous if with the changes.
