CD discusses Amari DeBerry

-What makes me feel good about the article is that neither the coaching staff nor Amari have given up. and progress is being made.
A big sign of that is that she spent the summer at UConn building up her strength.

As she feels stronger, she will act stronger on the court.

I like her, and still have lots of hope for her. The only questions I wonder about for Amari are focused on internal fire and aggression - can you teach them, can a mental "switch" be thrown.....?

I'm curious. Does any criticism equate to bashing? If I observe that the coach tends to only play a player for a short time in many games and not at all in others, am I bashing that player? If I suggest that you can't extrapolate 11 minutes in a blowout win with 6 points into a much larger number of points if she played, let's say 30, am I bashing that player? I'd just like to know the rules.
You are replying to the wrong person. I was replying to someone that stated "bashers". Please ask that person. Thank you.

I don't think that the coaching staff really cares about the bashers, including those on the Boneyard. :)
Obviously( to me, anyway), I was not saying that Coach Dailey was responding to bashers; only that certain people here might back off a bit if they inform themselves by reading Dailey's comments. That said, it might not be a stretch to imagine that the criticism of Amari reached some ears. And,yes, coaches who care about their players just might feel a need to respond to bashers. I think I'll imagine that that's why Coach Dailey said what she said.

I really want Amari to succeed. I think she has held up magnificently well as she languishes on the bench. She's happy and supportive despite the hurdles she is up against. That said, I doubt she will be a significant factor in the fortunes of the team. There, I just gauranteed her success. The basketball god loves shoving my predictions back in my face (or other sensitive anatomy).

My phone is acting up - so much for IPhone 13 Mag Plus but could be my old fingers cannot connect with my brain.
Let’s try again, condensed version.
Take no issue with previous posts.
Amari gets about 3 minutes end of Q1; if she does ok, repeat Q 2 & Q3.
Any time in Q4 depends on situation.
Only a thought on possible game time experiment.
I just heard great rendition of the Memphis Queen.
A great line in song, “ A boy became a man that night in the arms of the Memphis Queen.”
Might apply to Amari, “ A girl became a player that night in the arms of her UConn team.
I guess my romantic side is showing but I just am pulling for Amari to make the grade and become a valuable contributor to the team.
Ciao

.-.
Some of these kids have a desire to go pro. Your curiosity doesn’t outweigh the players’ rights to control what information is made public and might have some negative effect on their future plans. After all, WNBA teams might downgrade someone tagged as “injury prone” or who has certain kinds of nagging issues
We tend to not remember that Basketball after college is a BUSINESS and business does what it must to protect the bottom line. (I could make a case for it being a business in college.
The SELECTION process is often ---DE-Selection, Finding reasons not to selected candidates.

Everyone is rooting for DeBerry (42). Should the truth be told, most Uconn FAN's are rooting for each Uconn kid. Geno, Team, needs everyone capable of playing at this level.
I'm rooting for Ines and DeBerry. However, (not being Geno) I'm rooting for her to play Big/power forward. She is a capable scorer, tall, and could be very effective 5 to 12 feet around the basket on both O and D.
Ines, Except for Geno defensive scheme, I think she is fundamentally sound and a decent shooter. These are the days to show your stuff.
