OT: CCSU In NEC Tourney

Hi all,

With CCSU the 1 seed in the NEC and on to the semis on Saturday got some time with HC Pat Sellers to talk. Tune in!

If they win the NEC, what seed would they get. My guess is a 14 or 15? I can see them giving an overrated Iowa St. Team a problem in a 14-3 game.

Last year Quinnipiac and CCSU lost as 1 seeds in their conference semi finals.

Best case is probably a 15 unless there's a bunch of surprise winners from the other low end conferences. They're a solid team, but the conference is viewed as the worst in the country

I believe in mid to late 90s central had one of their best teams that was a 15 seed that gave Iowa State a run in first round game. Don’t recall specifics but that was a fun team to watch. Rooting hard for them to get there again this year.

I believe in mid to late 90s central had one of their best teams that was a 15 seed that gave Iowa State a run in first round game. Don’t recall specifics but that was a fun team to watch. Rooting hard for them to get there again this year.

I think they lost 78-68.

This year, not a 15 any 2 wants to see if they are lucky to get off the 16 seed line (hopefully).

Our first XL game every year should be CCSU imo. We're playing schools at that level regardless. Would be good for attendance, would be good for CCSU recruiting, would be good to keep buy game payments between CT state entities.

It's always painful to watch the best team in a small conference lose in their conference tourney and miss the big dance. Heartbreaker.

Good luck to CCSU. I remember them playing against Iowa State and Marcus Fizer in 2000 NCAA's. They lost 88-78.

Usually the NEC champ is in the play-in game, but CCSU has solid metrics for an NEC team, and they’d be 26-6 if they take care of business these next two games. Definitely not play-in. They’ve been a 15 seed in practically every bracket projection I’ve seen recently

If the Ivy League ever decided to go all in for sports, they could dominate. Their huge endowments would make them NIL proof and imagine recruits being able to make a ton of money and also get an Ivy League degree? It'll never happen, but it could of they wanted to.

The MAAC championship is too far away from me in AC, but I'll be covering both the NEC and Ivy final next week (Providence).

Last I knew they don't do collectives. Each individual athlete is on their own. Would they? Yes.

Not true. Solidly on the 15 line at this point--as either the 2nd or 3rd 15-seed--and none of the 16s are particularly close to them. If Central wins tomorrow and on Tuesday--which they'll obviously have to do--they are a no-doubt 15 seed.

Looking at the NEC bracket/teams and remembered this conversation from November. Just checking in to say Arkansas State did in fact beat Memphis, finish tied for 1st in the Sun Belt with a 22-9 record, and end up top 100 on KenPom @gsmooth
