CCSU Cracks FCS top 25

Grew up a UConn fan and will die a UConn fan. But I am also a very proud CCSU alum. This goes out to the blue devils! Well done on cracking the FCS top 25 for the first time since 2006. Coaches poll on ESPN has them receiving votes but on NCAA STATS FCS Top 25 they are ranked #25 in the country. It says a lot for an NEC team, let alone a The only public Connecticut team in the conference. They may get plucked to the CAA if they keep this up.

I think you'll find that most UConn fans who were born or raised here will also root for CCSU when they do well in sports. No animosity or rivalry between the two. Both trying to represent the state as best they can...

Took Pete like 5 years to get good, and last year was only a 6-5 campaign. But I do expect tem to win out and finish 11-1. Remember too that McCarthy is an interim head coach playing for his job.

No, he's an OL coach. That's what he's been his whole career, all the way back to his first stint in New Haven. His offenses aren't anything special.

He did build the program at UNH after it had been shut down for several years, but Central had been good previously. They won a few NEC championships under Jeff McInerney.

OL is something we’ve struggled with for years.... wish we brought in Rossomando for something. Him being the next UConn HC isn’t the worst idea but it’s also not a good idea. He does have lots of connections in the lower divisions that actually rely more on coaching then talent which is also something we need. you either take a big name like Urban Meyer or go after an up and coming FCS, D2 or D3 coach that knows how to coach these kids. I’m just not seeing the coaching pan out these last five years.

I attended both schools - went to UConn for 5 semesters, transferred & got my undergrad degree from CCSU. I root for CCSU when I can (especially when they made the Big Dance in 2000, '02 & '07) but my heart is always with UConn first & foremost.
