CCSU beats BC

I guess if the goal is more money and, for everyone not on this board, that is the goal. From a quality of program and on-field/court success, it has not been. BC is offering virtually free tickets and no one shows up. Good for their team getting more revenue from the ACC to get beat by CCSU in front of 2000 people.

People love to make this argument, Deep, and I think it's a fallacy. Boston College isn't bad because it's in the ACC, it's bad because it's Boston College. We had a 20 some odd game winning streak against them when they were in the big east. They weren't bad because they were in the big east, they were bad because they're Boston College.

Similarly, when we won the 2014 national championship, we didn't win it because we were in the American, we won it despite being in the American. In my opinion, being in the ACC does not change our athletic department DNA. As a university, we are committed to competing for championships. Right now we are doing that handicapped, at least moneywise, in the big east. There's no reason to believe that that would end if we were competing on a level playing field by being a member of a P4 conference.

A couple years ago I sat next to Dana Barros at the Garden and we were talking BC and UConn basketball. He said that BC's president and administration don't put an emphasis on winning and that's why their athletic department is not doing well. But then you have hockey and women's lacrosse so why do they have strong programs? Why would you not want your revenue sports to succeed? They also made a hefty investment to hire Bill O'Brien so I'm not sure what is true. It's definitely true that their fan base isn't that strong or dedicated to BC. That's usually where everything starts.
BC is good in hockey because it doesn't take much effort to spend like other schools in Hockey East, they have great tradition, have had good coaches, and they have a natural recruiting base.

Father Monan was a big supporter of BC athletics. Father Leahy took over in 1996 but he is not really interested in BC athletics. He never show ups for games. Leahy retires in 2026 and the hope at BC is that his successor, Father Butler, will reinvigorate BC athletics.

The change in the college landscape with NIL, revenue sharing, and the transfer portal has really hit BC football and men's basketball. They were the only P5 (at the time) program to vote against revenue sharing and this year they did not invest nearly enough in their roster. O'Brien went 7-6 (4-4 ACC) last year and the team is 1-9 (0-6 ACC). Why the fall off? BC lost a couple of players and had some injuries, but they had no depth and they weren't able to fill roster holes in the portal. Imagine if UConn didn't rebuild the defense through the portal this year. It would have been a disaster.

A CCSU victory over Rutty after beating bcu would be monumental.

I would trade BC for DePaul. It would reduce UConn's travel expenses and be an additional cupcake home game for our fans.
Can the ACC trade BC for UConn? Would be one of the greatest days of my life.

remember the scene in Ozark where Wendy leaves her brother in the restaurant, knowing full well what is on the horizon for him?
Im picturing the ACC trying to find a way to reenact that scene with the brother being BC.
