Given we are craving content, thought worth the post. This guy does a nice little job with his cuts, although he did call him "Taa-rris" Reid so do wonder tuned in he is. He has Tarris at 7, one spot behind Ivisic. That's going to be an interesting matchup when they play in MSG, as Ivisic shoots it at 38% from 3.

How many coaches right now would take #2 Graham Ike over Tarris straight up?

I don't think many would just based on the stats here. I don't know Ike's game very well.

Similar rebounding numbers (though Tarris is a bit higher), ORTG and DRTG. Similar foul rates.

Tarris made about 5% better from the field but isn't a shooter. Ike gets fouled more and makes more of them. Overall Ike is just a much better scorer on more usage, despite the similar TS%.

Tarris puts up much better shot blocking numbers and is physically quite a bit bigger.

Ok he lost me with this gem “Reed’s relentless motor”. If that was a given he would be closer to the top of the list.

Getting the name wrong out of the box did not help.

Yes we would all like to see Reed develop a relentless motor because if he had that then well then he might be the best center in the country.

At least they got the too many fouls issue right.

Ike puts up good numbers in the WCC but is slow and stinks on defense. He could not even stay on the court against UConn last year, 3pts 0 rbs in 12 minutes. The previous year he put up 5 and 5 and got smoked on defense. Incredibly overrated player.
Quite possibly his two worst games of the last 2 years. We own him. But generally he's pretty good.

FWIW I'd still take Reed. The high-major experience, shot-blocking, size, and offensive rebounding % is a gamechanger.

Ejiofor at #1 is an odd choice to me. Ike and Reed are both better IMO. Bidunga hasn't proven anything to be #2. Quaintance makes no sense at #5.

He gets to go up against 4 guys in the top 10 (Freeman 2x, Ejifor 2x, Bidunga & Ivizic), so will have plenty of opportunities to show what he's got. Plus Keita, Chinelu, AZ 5 and MSU 5. He'll have plenty of chances to show the goods this year.

exactly. Ike didn't play well against UConn the last 2 years, but the guy is good player with good post up moves and he can shoot the occasional 3 pter (13-33 last year).

I will take Tarris above Ike, but someone taking Ike over Tarris is not outrageous by any means.

Ejiofor is a heck of a player, and also a really good offensive rebounder. I project Reed to have similar numbers to Zuby from last year, albeit with greater efficiency, more rebounds, blocks, and fouls. Did they pick Ejiofor with a projection of his increasing scoring trend projecting to continue? I’m not sure that will happen with all the scorers on St. John’s. (Thank God Acaden Lewis didn’t bolt Kentucky for St John’s - that would have made so much sense for making that engine go!)
