Cav has done a Coach of the Year Award Winning job so far this season

When a conference gives out a Coach of the Year award...it usually goes to the guy who has done the work to get his team above and beyond where they were expected/picked to finish in pre-season polls. With 8 games left (all league games...including 8 at home)...Cav has a team with only 10 scholarships compared to the 18 per team the rest of HE has not only fighting for a HE 1st round playoff home game...but there is a chance if they can get 10-11 points out of the final 8 games they may even be fighting for a 1st round bye. There is no way you can't tell me that Mike Cavanaugh isn't the Hockey East Coach of the Year for the 2014-2015 season!

Taking a team that finished third to last in 2014, picked to finish sixth in 2015, and turning them into a first place team, with a roster of 10 freshmen sure is something.

True...but one of those 10 Freshman is either going 1 or 2 in the NHL draft this June...I was more thinking of the fact Cav coaching a team with only 10 scholarships compared to everyone's 18 is basically like being in a fight with one hand tied behind his back. Plus the fact this team was picked to finish last by writers and coaches. Whether he wins the award or not...he has done some job getting this program up and walking....
