Twenty players were named to the watch list, which was announced Tuesday by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. Only one other player — Baylor’s Ja’Kobe Walter — is entering his freshman season.

Call him a shooting forward. Call him a shooting guard. Call him a point guard. Whatever. Just call him good.

Donovan will surely be nominated for the Jabbar award - we'll be three for five...

1. G Stephon Castle, UConn

The Buzz: UConn returns starting guard Tristan Newton, so Stephon Castle will not be asked to immediately take over the offense. However, the McDonald’s All-American is at his best with the ball in his hands. At 6-foot-6, Castle has a sturdy frame and he uses a good pace to get into the paint, keep his defender on his hip, and make a play whether for himself or his teammates. The jump shot questions might arise if he plays off the ball, but easing him into the flow and speed of play early could only help down the line. Castle is at his best when the lights are the brightest. He has natural basketball instincts and should slip right into the starting rotation for the defending national champions.

Interesting he has Jaylin Stewart #6 on the list.

Ball is going to surprise a lot of people and by seasons end a lot of these prognosticators or going to be wondering how they missed on him.

Pertaining to that, Sam Vecenie did not have Castle in his Top 20 guards (Spencer #16, no Newton) nor in his freshman to watch list. He explained in the comments that he is considers Spencer Castle a wing.

So he considers Spencer a wing but rates him with the guards? And doesn't consider Castle in any of his rankings? I'm confused.

He considers Spencer a guard and rated him in the guards. And Castle a wing. The wing article hasnt come out yet. But Jerry West award consider Castle a shooting guard.
