Hoops aside, I think Vanderbilt has to be one of the most appealing schools in the country. Great fun city that is growing fast, tremendous academics, decent weather, SEC. it should be more popular than Duke.

I live in Nashville. Can attest it is a great city and would be insane to live here as a college kid. However, their basketball team is probably worse than Belmont (also in Nashville).

Vandy was the #3 school in Nashville behind both Belmont and Lipscomb last year. They went the Memphis/Penny route and hired Stackhouse as their coach. The problem being that Stackhouse doesn’t have the recruiting pipeline of Penny. It was a total crap shoot for Vandy after the Bryce Drew debacle. The right coach and Vandy will shoot to the top of the SEC. whether Stackhouse is the guy is TBD. It could be Duke with a fun city. Any kid from the south would be interested.
